Helicity‐Dependent All‐Optical Switching in Bi,Ga‐Substituted Rare‐Earth Iron Garnet Films Driven by Orbital Magnetic Moment

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Helicity‐dependent all‐optical magnetization switching was demonstrated for the Bi‐ and Ga‐substituted rare‐earth (R) iron garnet crystal thin films (Bi,Ga:RIG; R = Eu3+, Nd3+, and Y3+). The efficiency followed the order EIG > NIG > YIG. These results show the correlation between 4f orbital moment (4f〈L〉) of R3+ and helicity‐dependent optical ...

Femtosecond laser structuring of Flexdym elastomeric polymer for surface properties modifications [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
While microfluidics still relies heavily on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) as a benchmark material, alternative elastomers such as Flexdym are attracting increasing interest due to their processing versatility and potential for fast device fabrication.

An Examination of the Cs2NaInCl6 Luminescence: Interplay of Self‐Generated In+ and Doped Sb3+, Er3+/Yb3+ Ions

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A new luminescence mechanism in Cs2NaInCl₆ is revealed through spontaneously formed In3+→In+ centers and Er3+/Yb3+/Sb3+ doping. Tunable visible, near‐infrared, downconversion, and upconversion emissions are demonstrated, while DFT calculations explain the electronic structure.

Three-dimensional femtosecond laser processing for lab-on-a-chip applications

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2018
The extremely high peak intensity associated with ultrashort pulse width of femtosecond laser allows us to induce nonlinear interaction such as multiphoton absorption and tunneling ionization with materials that are transparent to the laser wavelength ...

Dynamic Fluorescence Modulation via Light‐Driven Competitive Protonation

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐component molecular system demonstrates reversible, light‐driven fluorescence write–erase cycling and thermal imaging. Illumination of a merocyanine photoacid transfers a proton to a highly efficient fluorescent pyridinium dye, switching its emission color; thermal relaxation reverses the process in the dark.

Femtosecond optoinjection of intact tobacco BY-2 cells using a reconfigurable photoporation platform [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A tightly-focused ultrashort pulsed laser beam incident upon a cell membrane has previously been shown to transiently increase cell membrane permeability while maintaining the viability of the cell, a technique known as photoporation.

Microstructuring of electrospun mats employing femtosecond laser

open access: yesMedžiagotyra, 2015
Electrospun mats from nano/micro-fibers with control porosity and pore shape may be ideal candidate for tissue engineering scaffolds. In this study three type of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) mats of 48-65 µm thickness with different nano/micro-fibers ...

Harnessing Ultrafast Optical Pulses for 3D Microfabrication by Selective Tweezing and Immobilization of Colloidal Particles in an Integrated System

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2025.
Microfabrication using nano‐ to micron‐sized blocks has transformative potential for next‐gen electronics, optoelectronics, and materials. Traditional methods are limited by scalability and precision. STIC, a single‐laser system for precise colloid manipulation and immobilization using femtosecond lasers, is introduced that enables efficient 3D ...
