Thermal effect of femtosecond laser polystyrene processing

open access: yes, 2019
The thermal effects during femtosecond laser polymer processing have been investigated. The temperature increase during the process was directly observed by employing an infrared camera.

Polarization diffraction grating produced by femtosecond laser nanostructuring in glass

open access: yes
We demonstrate polarization sensitive diffractive optical element fabrication by femtosecond direct writing in the bulk of silica glass. Modulation of the anisotropic properties is produced by controlling light-induced self-assembled nano ...

Light‐Absorbing‐Layer‐Free Flash Lamp Annealing for High‐Throughput Fabrication of All‐Solution‐Processed Oxide Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A flash lamp annealing strategy using a mullite chuck enables rapid conversion of sol–gels to metal oxides on silicon and ultra‐thin glass without extra light‐absorbing layers. Direct light absorption initiates the transformation, and the low thermal conductivity of mullite promotes heat accumulation.

Origin of Enhanced Efficiency and Reduced Roll‐Off in Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes Based on Pt(II) Complexes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Controlled Pt–Pt fine structure in square‐planar Pt(II) complexes governs metal–metal‐to‐ligand charge‐transfer (MMLCT) state formation, exciton dynamics, and organic light‐emitting diode performance. Short Pt–Pt contacts in Pt(fppz)2 enable coherent metal–metal coupling, sub‐microsecond emission and an external quantum efficiency of 29%, whereas ...

NbN Broadband Plasmonic Absorbers for Efficient Hot‐Carrier Injection Toward Improved Solar‐to‐Hydrogen Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Niobium nitride (NbN) broadband plasmonic metasurface absorbers provide an efficient platform for solar‐energy conversion through hot‐carrier injection. Quasi‐epitaxial NbN features a low work function of 4.0 eV, reducing the interfacial injection barrier and facilitating charge transfer into adjacent photocatalysts.

Self-assembled nanostructuring of a-Si:H films with ultrashort light pulses

open access: yes
For several decades, hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) has been playing a significant role in the world's production of photovoltaic modules. In this work, we investigate different types of modifications induced by a femtosecond laser in a-Si:H ...

A Very‐High Frequency Solution‐Processed Organic Field‐Effect Transistor With Improved Voltage‐Normalized Frequency of Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Increasing the frequency at which organic electronics operate while limiting the operation voltage is key to enabling future sustainable wireless applications. This work shows p‐type organic field‐effect transistors based on a molecularly doped, small molecule/polymer blend (C8‐BTBT:C16IDT‐BT), fabricated via direct‐writing and solution‐processing ...
