Optimization of photobiomodulation therapy for spinal cord injury: A review

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy in the red and near‐infrared range can significantly modulate the secondary injury response and promote the reparative and regenerative potential of neural tissue after spinal cord injury (SCI). At present, due to the nature of delivery methods, the most effective dose and irradiance at the injury site to optimize ...

Bone biology in aging periodontal and peri‐implant tissues

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Periodontal disease is an age‐related chronic inflammatory condition leading to tooth loss. Dental implants are an option for replacement of lost teeth in older adults. However, age‐related changes to alveolar bone may have pathological implications for its role in supporting the dentition and dental implants.

Management of Avascular Necrosis through Ayurveda - A Case Study

open access: yesJournal of Research in Traditional Medicine, 2017
Background: Avascular necrosis (Avn) of head of the femur is one of the growing condition seen in musculoskeletal clinics. It is basically an osteonecrosis caused due to an injury or any occlusion in the blood vessels nourishing the bone tissue.

Understanding exosomes in regenerative dentistry

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Regenerative dentistry is shifting from cell‐based strategies to cell‐free biologics capable of orchestrating intricate tissue repair. Exosomes, nanosized extracellular vesicles carrying bioactive molecular payloads, have emerged as central modulators of intercellular communication.

Segmentation of the proximal femur in radial MR scans using a random forest classifier and deformable model registration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background : Radial 2D MRI scans of the hip are routinely used for the diagnosis of the cam type of femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and of avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head, both considered causes of hip joint osteoarthritis in young and ...

A new measurement method for the radiographic assessment of the proximal femur: the centertrochanter distance

open access: yesActa Orthopaedica et Traumatologica Turcica, 2020
Objectives: We developed a new method -measuring the perpendicular distance between the center of the femur head and the tip of the trochanter- for radiographic assessment of the proximal femur.\nMethods: The “center-trochanter distance” (CTD) refers to ...

Total hip arthroplasty for hip arthritis with protrusio acetabuli using autograft reconstruction and metal wire mesh

open access: yesMedical Journal of Dr. D.Y. Patil University, 2013
A 70-year-old female patient presented with left hip arthritis following longstanding painfully restricted hip movement for 2 years. X-rays showed protrusio acetabuli with avascular necrosis of head femur.

Women in space: A review of known physiological adaptations and health perspectives

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Exposure to the spaceflight environment causes adaptations in most human physiological systems, many of which are thought to affect women differently from men. Since only 11.5% of astronauts worldwide have been female, these issues are largely understudied.

Impact of 14 days of head‐down bed rest and an exercise countermeasure on skeletal muscle atrophy, proteome and circulatory cytokines in older adults

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Prolonged bed rest and immobilization have deleterious effects on skeletal muscle mass and function, especially in older adults. These can lead to reduced physical capacity and quality of life. Previous experiments in younger individuals show that exercise can mitigate these effects, but evidence remains scarce and inconclusive in older adults.

Risk of Placental Pathology Across Ultrasound‐Defined Phenotypes of Impaired Fetal Growth in Dichorionic Twins: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, Volume 133, Issue 8, Page 1616-1628, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To determine the risk of placental dysfunction associated with different ultrasound‐based phenotypes of impaired fetal growth in dichorionic twin pregnancies. Design Retrospective cohort study. Setting Single tertiary centre. Population Patients with dichorionic twin pregnancies delivered at ≥ 320/7 (2011–2023) (N = 753).
