Pitfalls in femur length measurements.
Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, 1987The following study was performed to determine the precise anatomic correlate for the end points of sonographic measurement of the fetal femur. A cadaveric fetal thigh was dissected in layers and correlated with sonographic images. The margins of the osseous portion of the femur were determined on sonograms.

MORPHOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF PROXIMAL FEMUR AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH MAXIMUM FEMUR LENGTH
INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, 2023Incidence of proximal femoral fractures is on increasing trend owing to poor dietary habits, osteoporosis, chronic corticosteroid uses and various other hormonal or traumatic factors; hence requirement of total hip replacement and hemiarthroplasty increases.

Relation of fetal femur length to neonatal crown-heel length
Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, 1984Sonographically measured femur lengths in 102 fetuses were compared with neonatal crown-heel lengths within 72 hours of delivery. The optimal model for describing crown-heel length as a function of femur length was a linear model, with a coefficient of determination (r2) of 66 per cent; the standard deviation in predicting crown-heel length from femur ...

Estimation of African ape body length from femur length
Journal of Human Evolution, 1998The estimation from long bone lengths of stature in humans or body size in apes has a deep history in physical anthropology. To date, we can enumerate at least five different statistical methods for making such estimations. These methods are: (1) the regression of body length on long bone length (inverse calibration), (2) regression of long bone length

Use of femur length in estimation of fetal weight
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1985Fetal weight was estimated sonographically within 3 days of delivery in 103 cases. A stepwise regression analysis was performed to evaluate fetal sex, biparietal diameter, head circumference, abdominal circumference, and femur length as factors in estimation of fetal weight. A new formula for calculating fetal weight was derived.

Femur length parameters in fetuses with Down syndrome†
The Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine, 2019Objective: To characterize the natural history of femur length (FL) parameters across gestation in Down syndrome fetuses. Methods: Retrospective review of singletons with fetal Down syndrome delivered at our institution between January 2009 and December 2015. We assessed FL

LENGTHS OF THE FEMUR AND THE TIBIA
American Journal of Diseases of Children, 1948THE GROWTH of the femur and the tibia is an important consideration in clinical medicine, as well as in the assay of the development of the normal child. Unequal growth of the lower extremities occurs in many conditions, often to an extent requiring operative measures to correct the discrepancy.

Nail Length in the Management of Intertrochanteric Fracture of the Femur
Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, 2016Intramedullary devices are used increasingly to treat intertrochanteric femur fractures, especially those with unstable patterns. In spite of the considerable use of nails in the management of these fractures, opinions differ about the correct length of intramedullary nail. Long nails were developed to address the risk of diaphyseal fracture associated

Mathematical modeling of the fracture along the length of the femur diaphysis
Forensic Medical Expertise, 2023The aim of the study was to establish a pattern of femur diaphysis fracture with impact force over the entire front surface in an increments of 25 mm. Transverse, oblique and comminuted femur fractures were studied as a result of mathematical modeling.

Humerus and femur length in fetuses with down syndrome
Prenatal Diagnosis, 1994AbstractThe aim of the study was to assess the value of sonographic measurement of fetal humerus and femur lengths in the second trimester as a screening tool for Down syndrome (DS). We reviewed retrospectively fetal sonographic biometry made at the time of amniocentesis between 15 and 19 weeks. The study group consisted of 27 DS fetuses.
