Updates in COPD Management: From Inflammatory Pathways to Targeted Therapies

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Investigation, Volume 56, Issue 10, October 2026.
COPD is a heterogeneous disease driven by overlapping neutrophilic and eosinophilic inflammatory pathways. This review highlights the shift from symptom‐based treatment toward phenotype‐ and biomarker‐directed care. Blood eosinophils, FeNO, and IgE predict corticosteroid responsiveness and identify candidates for biologic therapy.

Lack of Association between Inhaled Corticosteroid Use Based on the Exhaled Nitric Oxide and Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease [PDF]

open access: yesTuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases
Background Fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) is known to useful biomarker for detecting eosinophilic airway inflammation. However, there is a lack of evidence regarding the role of FeNO in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Update on Pediatric asthma management: Recent advances. [PDF]

open access: yesPediatr Allergy Immunol
Pathophysiology of asthma: an opportunity for personalized targeted therapeutics. Abstract Asthma remains the commonest chronic pediatric respiratory disease and a major cause of childhood morbidity worldwide. Recent advances in pediatric asthma management shift the focus from symptom relief alone towards early control of airway inflammation ...

The Role of Iron‐Hyponitrite Intermediates in Biology and Insights From Synthetic Model Complexes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 34, 11 September 2026.
Despite the difference in active site architecture, NO reduction by different NOR enzymes is expected to be linked by a common intermediate: hyponitrite (N2O22−). However, experimentally, very little is known about the coordination chemistry of iron with hyponitrite and the expected Fe‐hyponitrite intermediates.

Effects of atopy and rhinitis on exhaled nitric oxide values - a systematic review

open access: yesClinical and Translational Allergy, 2011
Background Atopy and rhinitis are among the factors affecting exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) values and may contribute to difficulties in the clinical interpretation of FeNO measurements.

Extent of Sinus Surgery Is Associated With Disease Control in Biologic Treated Type 2 Dominant CRS

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, Volume 16, Issue 9, Page 986-995, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background A greater benefit of biologics is observed after surgery in Type 2 chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). However, the extent of surgery remains undefined in many studies. This study evaluated the extent of surgery on disease control in patients receiving biologics for refractory Type 2 dominant CRSwNP.

Hair analysis of formoterol as a novel tool to assess long‐term inhalation medication adherence: Data from the TRICOLON trial

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 9, Page 3235-3245, September 2026.
Aim The aim of this paper is to examine inhaled formoterol concentrations in hair and assess the potential of hair analysis as a tool for measuring long‐term adherence, by validation with objective data from digital inhalers. Methods Hair samples and digital inhaler data were collected from patients with COPD in 10 hospitals in the Netherlands as part ...

Phenotypic Clusters of Severe Asthma and Response to Dupilumab in Real‐World Practice

open access: yesClinical and Translational Allergy, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Severe asthma is a heterogeneous disease with variable clinical and inflammatory profiles that may influence responses to biological therapies. Identifying phenotypic clusters may help optimize patient selection and treatment outcomes.
