One Electron Makes Differences: From Heme {FeNO}7 to {FeNO}8

Angewandte Chemie, 2015
AbstractThe first X‐ray single‐crystal structure of a {FeNO}8 porphyrin complex [Co(Cp)2][Fe(TFPPBr8)(NO)], and the structure of the {FeNO}7 precursor [Fe(TFPPBr8)(NO)] are determined at 100 K. The two complexes are also characterized by FTIR and UV/Vis spectroscopy.

Tidal breathing FeNO measurements: A new algorithm

Pediatric Pulmonology, 2012
AbstractObjectiveInternational guidelines recommend measuring fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) during a single slow exhalation with a constant flow of 50 ml/sec. We developed a new algorithm to compute FeNO at 50 ml/sec from tidal breathing measurements.

Using FeNO in the diagnosis and management of asthma

British Journal of Nursing, 2014
Being able to identify inflammation of the lung through the measurement of nitric oxide is an excellent new way to assist in the accurate diagnosis of asthma and to monitor the effectiveness of asthma medication. An accurate reading can be taken in minutes and the technology will assist in a correct diagnosis. This increases patient confidence from the

Computational modeling of factors that modulate the unique FeNO bonding in {FeNO}6 heme–thiolate model complexes

JBIC Journal of Biological Inorganic Chemistry, 2007
A density functional theory account of the changes in FeNO bonding that occur in response to both bonded and nonbonded structural perturbations is reported for a series of {FeNO}(6) heme-thiolate model complexes. Using [Fe(porphine)(SCH(3))NO] as the reference complex, we constructed models to mimic equatorial (cis), distal, and proximal influences of ...

FeNO and Exercise Testing in Children at Risk of Asthma

The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: In Practice, 2018
Exercise testing is the gold standard for diagnosing exercise-induced bronchoconstriction in children, but requires considerable cooperation and medical resources. Therefore, fraction of exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) has been proposed as a tool to predict the need for exercise testing. The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship ...

Feno-Grego

Cryptic noninnocence: FeNO corroles in a new light

Dalton Transactions, 2015
Multiple lines of evidence, including electronic absorption spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, and broken-symmetry DFT calculations, indicate that the well-known FeNO corroles, long assumed to be {FeNO} 6 complexes, are in fact better described as {FeNO} 7

Temporal stability of feno measurement in COPD

5.2 Monitoring Airway Disease, 2015
Introduction: FeNO measurement colud be a good marker of ACOS, with an optimal cut-off point of 20 ppb. Nevertheless, it´s not been studied the temporal stability of this biomarker in COPD and its prognostic impact. Material & Methods: this is an observational, 1-year follow up, propspective study, which recruited patients with COPD attended in an ...

Anthropometric correlates of FeNO in healthy children

7.6 Paediatric Respiratory Epidemiology, 2015
Introduction: Published evidence regarding anthropometric determinants of FeNO in children is inconclusive. This factor may hamper the interpretation of FeNO measurements in respiratory epidemiology. Objective: The aim of the study was to establish relationship of FeNO with age, height, weight and chest circumferences in healthy children aged 7-9 ...

FeNO interpretation aid: A clinical decision support tool for interpretation of FeNO values in the patients with respiratory symptoms

European Respiratory Journal, 2011
Background: Exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) is a validated non-invasive biomarker of airways inflammation that is easy to measure, and gives immediate results. Its use has been increasing recently in routine care. Several individual factors that affect FeNO values have been identified, including age, height, weight,
