Degradation of nicosulfuron using fenton and fenton-like reactions [PDF]

open access: yesChemical Industry and Chemical Engineering Quarterly, 2018
Nicosulfuron, a sulfonylurea herbicide, was subjected to different Fenton reactions at pH of a nicosulfuron aqueous solution (pH 5). Usually, the optimal pH for the Fenton reaction is between 3 and 4, but the addition of acids is not environmentally ...

Bimetallic Nanoreactor Activates cGAS‐STING Pathway via mtDNA Release for Cancer Metalloimmunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bimetallic Mn–Ca nanoreactor (MCC) is developed as a non‐nucleotide STING nanoagonist for cancer metalloimmunotherapy. MCC induces Ca2+ overload and hydroxyl radical generation, resulting in mitochondrial damage and mtDNA release. The released mtDNA cooperates with Mn2+ to robustly activate cGAS–STING signaling.

Australian Cosmic Ray Modulation Research [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Australian research into variations of the cosmic ray flux arriving at the Earth has played a pivotal role for more than 50 years. The work has been largely led by the groups from the University of Tasmania and the Australian Antarctic Division and has ...

Oxidative degradation of sulfathiazole by Fenton and photo-Fenton reactions

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Science and Health, Part A, 2014
This article presents experimental results on 47 μmol L(-1) sulfathiazole (STZ) degradation by Fenton and photo-Fenton reactions using multivariate analysis. The optimal experimental conditions for reactions were obtained by Response Surface Methodology (RSM).

How to Chemically Protect PFAS‐Free Membranes in Fuel Cells: Radical Quenching Poly(vinylphosphonic acid) Layer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hydrocarbon membranes are a greener alternative to PFSA in PEM fuel cells, but degrade rapidly from radical attack. We present a novel strategy using poly(vinylphosphonic acid) (PVPA) as a local radical scavenger. Incorporated as an interfacial barrier, PVPA enhances chemical stability and significantly extends membrane lifetime under accelerated ...

Small-area measures of income poverty [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper considers techniques for measuring the prevalence of income poverty within small areas, or “neighbourhoods”, in Britain. The ultimate purpose is applying such statistics to investigating how the micro-spatial distribution of poverty within ...

Nanodiamond‐Based Quantum Sensing Reveals Changes in Endo‐Lysosomal Activity of Stimulated Cardiac Fibroblasts in a Cellular Fibrosis Model

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Quantum sensing reveals intricate patterns linking endo‐lysosomal maturation to cardiac fibrosis progression, highlighting complexity in cellular remodeling. This study investigates fibroblast‐to‐myofibroblast transition under cell aging, stiffness, and TGF‐β stimulation, comparing nanodiamond uptake, endo‐lysosomal dynamics, and free radical ...

Evaluating the Efficiency of the Fenton-Ultrasonic Process in Degradation of Trihalomethanes Precursors from Aqueous Environments Using Zero Iron by Response Surface Method

open access: yesArmaghane Danesh Bimonthly Journal, 2022
Background & aim: The presence of natural organic substances (NOM) in aqueous solutions due to the creation of disinfection by-products (DBP) including trihalomethanes (THMs) and haloacetic acids (HAAs), as a result of the chlorination of aqueous ...

Modeling electrodialysis and a photochemical process for their integration in saline wastewater treatment. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Oxidation processes can be used to treat industrial wastewater containing non-biodegradable organic compounds. However, the presence of dissolved salts may inhibit or retard the treatment process. In this study, wastewater desalination by electrodialysis
