Myofasciitis in the Domestic Ferret
Since late 2003, an inflammatory disease of muscle and fascia has been diagnosed in several ferrets at Northwest ZooPath, and this report describes the condition in 17 ferrets. It is a disease of young ferrets, characterized by rapid onset of clinical signs, high fever, neutrophilic leukocytosis, treatment failure, and death (or euthanasia).

Genomics‐informed management of ex situ populations
Abstract The European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA) manages insurance populations for hundreds of species through its EAZA ex situ programs (EEPs). EEPs help safeguard against extinction in the wild and provide source populations for genetic rescue programs.

The amygdala plays an important role in the responses to predator threat. Glutamatergic processes in amygdala regulate the behavioral responses to predator stress, and we have found that exposure to ferret odor activates glutamatergic neurons of the ...

Regenerative Endodontics in Teeth With Irreversible Pulpitis: A Scoping Review
ABSTRACT Introduction Regenerative endodontic procedures (REPs) have been widely used to manage a range of pulpal pathologies, particularly in immature permanent teeth. The development of bioactive calcium silicate–based materials has led to a paradigm shift in vital pulp therapy (VPT) and REPs.

Black‐tailed prairie dogs are highly social ground squirrels that excavate communal burrow systems, most often in medium‐textured soils. Their forelimbs demonstrate morphofunctional trade‐offs for scratch‐digging and terrestrial ecology, including well‐developed and fast‐contracting proximal musculature with large mechanical advantage paired with ...

Transcriptomic profiling of subpopulations of mouse embryonic subplate neurons
To study gene expression in subpopulations of cortical subplate neurons (Lpar1‐EGFP‐positive and D1B‐positive SpN clusters), we applied gene expression profiling, including bulk microarray analysis, single‐cell RNA sequencing (scRNA‐seq), and Visium spatial transcriptomics, and identified both overlapping and unique gene expression signatures ...
