Fast Detection of Phenolic Compounds in Extracts of Easter Pears (Pyrus communis) from the Atacama Desert by Ultrahigh-Performance Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (UHPLC–Q/Orbitrap/MS/MS)

open access: yesMolecules, 2016
A small Chilean variety of pears growing in the town of Toconao, an oasis located at the northeastern edge of the Salar de Atacama, northern Chile, was studied by means of modern PDA and high resolution mass spectral data (UHPLC-PDA-HESI-orbitrap-MS/MS).

The effects of bicarbonate and mineral surfaces on uranium immobilization under anaerobic conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
For four decades, from 1940 through 1980, the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) extensively mined and processed uranium at various sites. As a result, widespread uranium contamination exists in subsurface sediments and aquifers.

Improvement of Magnetic and Structural Properties of Some Ferric Compounds with Boron Addition

open access: yesJournal of Superconductivity and Novel Magnetism, 2010
In the present study, we investigate the influence of boron oxide addition on magnetic and structural properties of some ferric compounds (BaFe 12 O 19 and BiFeO 3 ). Our studies have shown that small amounts of B 2 O 3 addition improve the crystalline structure, and thus improve the magnetic properties effectively.

Chemically Doped Conductive Polymers for Wearable Health Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Among conductive polymers, poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS), polyaniline (PANI), and polypyrrole (PPy) are the most studied and applied. Chemical doping significantly boosts intrinsic conductivity and mechanical robustness.

Defining the Structural Consequences of Mechanism-Based Inactivation of Mammalian Cytochrome P450 2B4 Using Resonance Raman Spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In view of the potent oxidizing strength of cytochrome P450 intermediates, it is not surprising that certain substrates can give rise to reactive species capable of attacking the heme or critical distal-pocket protein residues to irreversibly modify the ...

Ovarian Matrisome Dynamics and αvβ3‐Mediated Regulation in Early Follicular Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The matrisome undergoes dynamic remodeling during early follicular development. Integrin αvβ3 mediates matrisome signals, regulating primordial follicle activation/atresia and secondary follicle growth via Hippo/mTOR pathways, with conserved roles in human ovaries, offering therapeutic targets for ovarian disorders.

Catalysts for polyimide foams from aromatic isocyanates and aromatic dianhydrides [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Polyimide foam products having greatly improved burn-through and flame-spread resistance are prepared by the reaction of aromatic polyisocyanates with aromatic dianhydrides in the presence of metallic salts of octoic acid. The salts, for example stannous

Growth, photosynthetic pigments, phenolic content and biological activities of Foeniculum vulgare Mill., Anethum graveolens L. and Pimpinella anisum L. (Apiaceae) in response to zinc [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The effect of zinc (Zn) on phenols, antioxidant activities (free radicals' scavenging activities, inhibition of lipid peroxidation, chelating activity and reducing power), and enzyme inhibition activities of acetylcholinesterase, lipoxygenase and ...
