Determination of ascorbic acid with ferricyanide
Talanta, 1981Ascorbic acid can be determined by titration with potassium ferricyanide in sulphuric, phosphoric or hydrochloric acid media. Twelve indicators, including ferroin and some triphenylmethane and thiazine dyes, have been found suitable. The method has been successfully applied to assay of commercial products for vitamin C.

Preparation of Ferrous Ferricyanide
Nature, 1971WE have synthesized ferrous ferricyanide, Fe3+2 (FeIII (CN)6)2 by vacuum pyrolysis of Prussian blue (ferric ferrocyanide, Fe4+3 (FeII (CN)6)3)—see refs. 1 and 2. This completes the preparation of the curious quartet of iron–iron cyanides. The cation in each case is high spin ferrous (2+) or ferric (3+) iron, and the cyanide-surrounded anion is low spin

The ferricyanide–sulphite reaction
J. Chem. Soc. A, 1971The ferricyanide–sulphite reaction has been shown to proceed via the intermediates [Fe(CN)5(CNSO3)]5– and [Fe(CN)5(CNSO3)]4–, followed by hydrolysis of the latter to ferrocyanide and sulphate. In the presence of catalysts such as animal charcoal and Cu++aq ions, there is a reduction in the amount of intermediate formed, and radioactive tracer ...

Journal de Physique IV (Proceedings), 2003
We studied the complexation of ferricyanide ion by humic substances (HS) at acidic, neutral and basic pH by means of cyclic voltammetry (CV) and UV-visible spectroscopy. The CV measurements carried out at pH 3.5 and 7 showed that the first addition of HS (0.05 mg/mL of organic carbon) to ferricyanide solution caused a shift of both cathodic and anodic ...

Quantitative oxidation by potassium ferricyanide
Talanta, 1960Abstract Titrimetric methods using potassium ferricyanide as an oxidant for the estimation of various inorganic and organic substances are reviewed. An attempt has been made to evaluate the importance of these methods. Although the emphasis is on the literature that appeared in the past five years, some older procedures are included because of their ...

The existence of ferrous ferricyanide
Transition Metal Chemistry, 1999Evidence in the literature on the synthesis of ferrous ferricyanide is critically discussed. Pyrolysis and pressure effects on Prussian Blue lead to ferrous ferrocyanide together with decomposition by-products, and not to ferrous ferricyanide. The latter compound could be a precursor in the formation of Turnbull's Blue or an excited state of Prussian ...

Determination of quinol with ferricyanide
Fresenius' Zeitschrift für analytische Chemie, 1964A volumetric determination of quinol is described using ferricyanide as an oxidant. The ferrocyanide formed is back-titrated in acid solution with Zn2+, using diphenylamine as an indicator. Titration is possible in presence of oxalic, citric, and tartaric acids and phenol. Resorcinol and catechol interfere in the determination.

ESTIMATION OF CORTICOSTEROIDS BY THE REDUCTION OF FERRICYANIDE
Canadian Journal of Biochemistry and Physiology, 1959A procedure based on a modification of Folin's micromethod for blood sugar (1, 2) was used to investigate the reducing activity of various corticosteroids. The ferrocyanide produced as a result of the reduction of ferricyanide in alkaline solution was measured photometrically as Prussian blue.

0.02 μg/0.2 ml of potassium ferricyanide can be detected on a spot plate by utilising its catalytic effect on the reaction of cerium (III) with sulphosalicylic acid. A probable mechanism is discussed.

Coulometric estimation of ferricyanides
Fresenius' Zeitschrift fr Analytische Chemie, 1959Controlled potential coulometry has been shown to be an accurate method for estimation of ferricyanide. This method is decidedly superior to recommended volumetric and gravimetric methods. The conditions for the coulometric estimation have been worked out and the extent to which other ions like chloride interfere has been studied.
