Roping phenomena in ferritic stainless steels

Materials Science and Technology, 1986
AbstractThe mechanism of roping in two ferritic stainless steels (type 18·2 and type 430) has been studied.

Ferritic stainless steels

Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 1973
Translated from Metalloved. Term. Obrab. Metal.; 15: No. 7, 16-20(Jul 1973). The corrosion resistance of ferritic steels containing N and C and alloyed with Mo was investigated. The corrosion tests were conducted using oxygen-saturated acids and chloride salt solutions. Results are tabulated and discussed. (JRD)

Sintered 434L ferritic stainless steels

Materials & Design, 1985
Abstract Stainless steel powder metallurgical parts are increasingly used in automotive, aircraft, business machines, chemical, marine, tools and hardware industries. Although some results on sintered austenitic stainless steels have been reported, there is no information on a relatively cheaper ferritic stainless steel series of alloys.

Ferrite Measurement in Duplex Stainless Steels

CORROSION 2019, 2019
Abstract Duplex stainless steels are a family of corrosion-resistant alloys, which typically contain 50 % austenite and 50 % ferrite. Phase balance is important in duplex stainless steels as it helps to impart optimum mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.

Toughness of Ferritic Stainless Steels

1980
A comprehensive review of the factors fundamental to ferritic stainless steel toughness has been undertaken. Emphasis has been placed on the micromechanisms of fracture and their effects on the ductile-to-brittle transition consistent with the Cottrell crack nucleation model. The general effects of strain rate, plastic constraint (including gage effect)

Ferritic Stainless Steels for Magnetic Applications

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1990
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Often the question has been posed as to where are markets for P/M stainless steels. This question has been difficult to answer. Stainless steels are more expensive than alloy steels, because they contain chromium to provide corrosion resistance. Chromium poses a problem for P/M parts fabricators.

Fabrication of ferritic-austenitic stainless steels

Materials & Design, 1986
Abstract Stainless steels have been developed to give improved weldability and resistance to inter-granular corrosion. Detailed descriptions are given of both the metallurgical properties and recommended welding procedures.

Serrated flow in a ferritic stainless steel

Materials Science and Engineering, 1981
Abstract The Portevin-Le Chatelier effect was analysed by measuring the stress drop Δσ. Russell's assumption that Δσ depends on the aging process as described by Cottrell and Bilby was examined, but no agreement was found between the theory and the experimental results for a ferritic stainless steel.

Composite of austenitic-ferritic stainless steel

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1995
Abstract A new precipitation hardening duplex type stainless steel, Mo- and Ni-free, containing 20 Cr, 16 Mn, 2 Si and 0.3 Ti has been developed. The steel possesses a combination of an unusually high strength (Y.S. 600–700 MPa), good ductility and high pitting corrosion resistance after various treatments.
