Numerical Simulation of Heat Transport from the Electric Arc Furnace to the Heat Recovery System

open access: yesCommunications, 2016
The paper presents a numerical model of heat transport from melting charge of the electric arc furnace designed for ferroalloy production, into a cooled roof of the electric arc furnace from which waste heat is led to the heating system of a company. The

Decreasing the Environmental Impact of the Electric Steelmaking Route Through Advanced Modelling Techniques

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Ensemble models are adopted to estimate the sterile content of scraps arriving to the scrap yard. Feed‐forward neural networks are exploited to estimate steel composition and temperature after Ladle furnace. The models are validated on data from two steelworks very satisfactory results and are inherently transferable to other steelworks, as they are ...

Increasing the efficiency of microalloying steel with boron‑containing alloys

open access: yesЛитьë и металлургия, 2023
Compositions for microalloying steel with boron are presented, its positive effect on the process of steel crystallization, increasing strength and toughness is shown. The feasibility of using boron‑containing ferroalloys with low boron concentrations is

Oxygen Refined Ferroalloys [PDF]

open access: yesJOM, 1961
Successful in steelmaking, oxygen top-blowing techniques are not being employed for the refining of ferrochrome. This may be the beginning of the wide-spread use of oxygen in the ferroalloys industry.

Effect of Double Annealing on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a Medium Manganese Steel

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
A double intercritical annealing strategy is proposed to tailor the multiphase microstructure and mechanical response of a medium‐Mn steel. The treatment produces an ultrafine mixture of ferrite, martensite and multiple austenite populations with graded thermal and mechanical stability, formed through austenite reversion and controlled retransformation.

The Application of Hydrochar Composite Briquettes for Sustainable Slag Foaming in the Electric Arc Furnace Process

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Hydrochar‐mill‐scale briquettes with varying C/O molar ratios (0.07–0.90) have been tested at 1650 °C to evaluate their slag foaming performance for electric arc furnace application. All seven briquette recipes developed succeed in promoting slag foaming.

Production of borbarium ferroalloy

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2020
In the present work, it was considered expedient to organize the production of binary borbaric ferroalloy. The simultaneous presence in it of barium and boron, known as an effective micro-alloying element, should provide it with a high demand for industry.
