Unlocking Stereodefined Olefins by Z‐Selective Transition Metals‐catalyzed C−H Activations

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 15, 14 August 2026.
The synthesis of Z‐olefins is an important challenge in synthetic organic chemistry. Within this review, we report a comprehensive overview of transition metals‐catalyzed Z‐selective C–H activations of (hetero)arenes for the synthesis of stereodefined olefins.

Metal‐Free Protoboration of Dialkyl Ketones: NHC‐Catalyzed Synthesis of α‐Hydroxy Boronate Esters

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 8, August 2026.
The first metal‐free protoboration of unactivated dialkyl ketones is reported using a catalytic N‐heterocyclic carbene and isopropyl alcohol as a mild proton source. This NHC/B2pin2/IPA system delivers α‐hydroxy boronate esters in high yields across a broad substrate scope, with mechanistic studies revealing a concerted nucleophilic borylation pathway ...

Electrochemical C─H Amination From a Primary Amine via a Cobalt Nitrene Intermediate

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 8, August 2026.
This article reveals proof of principle to unlock the use of unfunctionalized amines as nitrene precursor alternatives, extending the applicability of metal nitrene transfer catalysis. Electrochemical generation of a cobalt nitrene intermediate from 4‐phenylbutylamine leads to C─H amination, producing the cyclic imine 2‐phenylpyrroline.

Gold(I) Phosphine/Phosphido‐Borohydride Complexes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 22, 1 August 2026.
Synthesis, structure, and electrochemical characteristics of a homologous series of gold(I) complexes featuring phosphine and phosphido–borohydride ligands. A homologous series of linear, mononuclear gold(I) phosphine/phosphido‐borohydride complexes, encompassing [Au(PR3)2]+ 1, [Au(PR3)(PR2BH3)] 2 and [Au(PR2BH3)2]– 3 (R = tBu, Ad), has been prepared ...
