Geometric isotope effect of deuteration in a hydrogen-bonded host–guest crystal
Deuterating a hydrogen bond can change the bond’s geometry, a phenomenon known as the geometric isotope effect (GIE). Here, the authors find that a hydrogen-bonded host–guest crystal, imidazolium hydrogen terephthalate, exhibits significant GIE on its ...

Reversible in situ modulation of competing phases in manganite/ferroelectrics heterostructures
Manganite/ferroelectrics heterostructures were formed by growing a La 0.8Ca0.2MnO3 film on single crystal of ferroelectric 0.72Pb(Mg1/3Nb23)O3-0. 28PbTiO3 (PMN-PT). In such heterostructures, the lattice strain can be well controlled by the electric field

Helix Alignment, Chevrons, and Edge Dislocations in Twist‐Bend Ferroelectric Nematics
The recently discovered twist‐bend ferroelectric nematic (NTBF) is the new member of the multiferroic family, representing a fluid with an oblique helicoidal (heliconical) periodic structure of spontaneous electric polarization. The work presents a thorough exploration of the material properties of this phase, how the periodic modulation of ...

Temperature‐dependent electron diffraction on tin monochalcogenides demonstrates a gradual displacive transformation between ferroelectric and paraelectric phases with significant variability in lattice constants and Curie temperature (TC). Periodic variations exist even between domains in individual crystals, implying a domain‐specific Curie ...
