It is shown that the major contribution to the low temperature “saturation” value of the quadrupole splitting in ferrous compounds is independent (with a few well-defined exceptions) on the site symmetry of the Fe2+ ion. This explains the experimental fact that the measured values of this quantity in most compounds fall within ≈ 20% of each other.

The effect of ferrous sulfate (FeSO4) treatment on the removal of cyanide compounds and the improvement of biodegradability of coking wastewater were investigated by varying Fe:TCN molar ratios. Results suggested that the reaction between FeSO4 and coking wastewater was a two-step process.
