A Novel Multistep Mechanism for Oxygen Binding to Ferrous Hemoproteins:  Rapid Kinetic Analysis of Ferrous-Dioxy Myeloperoxidase (Compound III) Formation

Biochemistry, 2004
Myeloperoxidase (MPO), a hemoprotein that uses H(2)O(2) as the electron acceptor in the catalysis of oxidative reactions, is implicated as a participant in inflammatory injury and cardiovascular diseases. Mechanisms for turning off this enzyme once released, preventing unwanted tissue injury, are poorly understood.

On the existence of intermediate compounds between hemoglobin (wholly ferrous) and methemoglobin (wholly ferric)

Experientia, 1947

Recovery Nickel-Ferrous Compound from Nickel-Bearing Secondary Resources

2020
The stainless steel pickling sludge contained valuable metals such as Fe, Cr, and Ni and was a second Ni-bearing resource. It was essential to explore an economical technology for recovery metals from the low grade pickling sludge. The method of carbon thermal reduction–magnetic separation process was proposed to not only recover Fe, Cr, and Ni from ...

Sign of the Nuclear Quadrupole Coupling Constants in Some Ionic Ferrous Compounds

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1966
Nuclear quadrupole coupling constants have previously been determined for a large number of iron-containing compounds by using the Mössbauer effect. In general, the sign of the coupling constant has not been determined although this parameter can have interesting structural implications. We have used the magnetic perturbation technique to determine the

XPS study of surface-active organic compounds on fine ferrous powder

Surface and Interface Analysis, 2000
Controlled adsorption of organic probe molecules in liquid solutions provides information on the interaction between powder and surface-active additives used in metal injection moulding (MIM). The adsorption of such compounds onto stainless-steel powder and carbonyl iron powder is evaluated by means of XPS.

Ferrous Complexes and Chelating Compounds in Suppression of Fungal Diseases of Cereals

1986
The involvement of iron in fungal development has been studied from three main aspects; acquisition of iron in iron deficient environments, suppression of pathogenic fungi by iron deprivation and the displacement of inhibitory iron within conidia to activate the germination mechanism.

Redox reactions between organic halo-compounds and ferrous cations in isopropanol

Transition Metal Chemistry, 1978
Halo-compounds of which the half-wave reduction potential is equal to or less negative than that of carbon tetrachloride, are reduced by tetrachloroferrate(II) anions. The bimolecular rate constants measured at 250 in isopropanol are 2 × 10−5 M−1 s−1 and 1 × 10−4 M−1 s−1 respectively for CCl4 and CCl3CO2Me.
