A comprehensive review of the impact of COVID-19 on human reproductive biology, assisted reproduction care and pregnancy: a Canadian perspective

open access: yesJournal of Ovarian Research, 2020
Currently, the world is in the seventh month of the COVID-19 pandemic. Globally, infections with novel SARS-CoV-2 virus are continuously rising with mounting numbers of deaths. International and local public health responses, almost in synchrony, imposed

Uterine differentiation as a foundation for subsequent fertility.

open access: yesJournal of reproduction and fertility. Supplement, 2019
Uterine differentiation in cattle and sheep begins prenatally, but is completed postnatally. Mechanisms regulating this process are not well defined. However, studies of urogenital tract development in murine systems, particularly those involving tissue ...

MYC Binding Near Transcriptional End Sites Regulates Basal Gene Expression, Read‐Through Transcription, and Intragenic Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
MYC is a transcription factor (TF) that binds DNA near transcriptional start sites (TSSs) and within enhancer elements. Here, unappreciated sites of MYC binding in the vicinity of transcriptional end sites (TESs) of many genes in multiple cell types in association with numerous other TFs are described previously.

Education, Gender, and Cohort Fertility in the Nordic Countries

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Population, 2017
Systematic comparisons of fertility developments based on education, gender and country context are rare. Using harmonized register data, we compare cohort total fertility and ultimate childlessness by gender and educational attainment for cohorts born ...

Multimodal Investigation of Angiogenesis and Its Prevention by Small Compounds in a Zebrafish Cancer Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A combined optical coherence tomography angiography and fluorescence imaging approach assesses tumor angiogenesis and drug effects in a novel zebrafish cancer model. By analyzing 3D vasculature data, the two imaging methods complement each other to quantify blood flow, vessel structure, and drug efficacy.

Comprehensive Characterization of Bihormonal Cells and Endocrine Cell Lineages in Mammalian Pancreatic Islets

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study integrates dual‐reporter genetics, imaging flow cytometry, and single‐cell sequencing to characterize rare bihormonal cells in mouse and human pancreatic islets. Gcg⁺Ins⁺ cells resemble α‐cells rather than transitional states. Cross‐species gene network analysis refines islet cell taxonomy and reveals human‐specific δ‐cell subtypes ...

Post‐Translational Modifications in Cilia and Ciliopathies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review synthesizes current understanding of post‐translational modifications (PTMs) in ciliary proteins and emphasizes their roles in ciliary formation, homeostasis, and signaling. This review also discusses the implication of PTM dysregulation in ciliopathies and explores therapeutic strategies targeting PTM‐modifying enzymes.

Association of follicular fluid volume with membrane stretchability of human metaphase II oocytes following the gonadotropin‐releasing hormone agonist protocol during intracytoplasmic sperm injection

open access: yesReproductive Medicine and Biology, 2018
Purpose The authors previously revealed the association of the follicular fluid (FF) volume with oolemma stretchability following the gonadotropin‐releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist protocol during intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).

JA‐Mediated Regulation of Amino Acid Homeostasis Adjusts Metabolic Flux and Enhances Spider Mite Tolerance via the SlJAZ8‐SlWRKY57‐SlAVT6s Module in Tomato

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study elucidates a novel SlJAZ8‐SlWRKY57‐SlAVT6A/SlAVT6B module that effectively channels metabolic flux from primary to secondary metabolism, impacting plant growth, development, and resistance. Two novel vacuolar amino acid exporters, SlAVT6A and SlAVT6B, fine‐tunes trichomes, terpenes, and gibberellins, bolstering spider mite resistance.
