Global-scale modeling of nitrogen balances at the soil surface [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This paper provides global terrestrial surface balances of nitrogen (N) at a resolution of 0.5 by 0.5 degree for the years 1961, 1995 and 2050 as simulated by the model WaterGAP-N.

Liquid Metal Microrobots for Magnetically Guided Transvascular Navigation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid metal‐based microrobots combine magnetic steering, intrinsic X‐ray visibility and softness, to navigate blood vessels even against flow. Under clinically relevant magnetic fields, liquid metal microrobots roll along vessel walls, cross endothelial barriers, and accumulate in target tissues.

Mulching influences pear yield and quality by changing rhizosphere microbial community structure in the arid region of Northwest China

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
IntroductionMulching is widely adopted in pear orchards to improve soil quality and fruit production, yet its effects on rhizosphere microbial communities and the mechanisms linking soil–microbe interactions to pear yield and quality remain poorly ...

Heterophase fcc‐hcp‐fcc High‐Entropy Alloy Nanomaterials with Tailored Electron Divergence for Selective Ammonia Electrosynthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Heterophase fcc‐hcp‐fcc RuFeMMnMo (M═CoNi, Co, and Ni) high‐entropy alloy nanomaterials have been successfully synthesized using a one‐pot approach. The highly random distribution of multiple metal components and the tunable diversity of metal atomic arrangements can be realized simultaneously. By combining metals with different work functions, fcc‐hcp‐

Synthetic community derived from grafted watermelon rhizosphere provides protection for ungrafted watermelon against Fusarium oxysporum via microbial synergistic effects

open access: yesMicrobiome
Background Plant microbiota contributes to plant growth and health, including enhancing plant resistance to various diseases. Despite remarkable progress in understanding diseases resistance in plants, the precise role of rhizosphere microbiota in ...

Rhizosphere domestication enhances root colonization and plant growth promotion performance of Bacillus velezensis SQR9

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
The overuse of chemical fertilizers has caused severe soil degradation and environmental pollution, necessitating sustainable alternatives such as microbial fertilizers containing plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR).

Greenhouse gas emissions of regionally produced alternative feedstuffs rich in protein for Austrian dairy production [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The aim of this study was to analyse the potential greenhouse gas emissions (GHGE) of locally and regionally produced, alternative protein‐rich feedstuffs (APRFs) which can be utilised in dairy cattle feeding as compared to extracted soybean meal (SBME ...
