Structure and intermixing in Fe/Fe(110) and Fe/Ag/Fe(110) multilayers
Surface Science, 1998Abstract We have previously shown, in UHV–SEM studies of Ag/Fe(110), that Ag(111) islands grow on top of two intermediate monolayers of Ag in the Stranski–Krastanov (SK) mode. In the present work, Fe was deposited on samples consisting of (1–5 ML) annealed Ag layers on Fe(110).

Spinal cord injury (SCI) leads to a partial or complete disruption of motor, sensory, and autonomic nerve pathways below the level of the lesion. In paraplegic patients, functional electrical stimulation (FES) was originally widely considered as a means to restore walking function but this was proved technically very difficult because of the numerous ...

Synergy-Based FES for Post-Stroke Rehabilitation of Upper-Limb Motor Functions
IEEE transactions on neural systems and rehabilitation engineering, 2019Functional electrical stimulation (FES) is capable of activating muscles that are under-recruited in neurological diseases, such as stroke. Therefore, FES provides a promising technology for assisting upper-limb motor functions in rehabilitation ...

Nanocrystalline Fe and Fe-riched Fe-Ni through electrodeposition
Nanostructured Materials, 1999Abstract There is a constant need for new softer magnetic materials, especially with high saturation moments. A number of studies have shown that by decreasing the average crystal size of a material below 20 nm, it is possible to reduce its magnetic losses.

Magnetic structure of Fe/Cr/Fe trilayers
Physical Review B, 1993The magnetic structure of Cr films deposited on single crystal Fe(001)/GaAs(001) substrates is investigated by soft x-ray magnetic circular dichroism (SXMCD) of the L2 and L3 absorption edges. We find that 0.25 ML Cr coverages result in Cr moments aligned with each other and antialigned to the underlying Fe moment direction.

Exchange couplings between two Fe layers in Fe/Al/Fe/Ni-Fe/NiO sandwiches
Journal of Materials Science, 1999Exchange couplings between two Fe layers have been investigated in polycrystalline Fe/Al/Fe/Ni-Fe/NiO and Fe/Al/Fe/Ni-Fe sandwiches. Linear exchange couplings between the two Fe layers were strong and ferromagnetic when the thickness of the Al spacer was between 0.7 and 2.2 nm.

Fe–Mg Interdiffusion in (Mg,Fe)O
Physics and Chemistry of Minerals, 2005We have performed a series of interdiffusion experiments on magnesiowustite samples at room pressure, temperatures from 1,320° to 1,400°C, and oxygen fugacities from 10−1.0 Pa to 10−4.3 Pa, using mixed CO/CO2 or H2/CO2 gases. The interdiffusion couples were composed of a single-crystal of MgO lightly pressed against a single-crystal of (Mg1-x

Iron sulfide (FeS) nanoparticles with large specific surface area and abundant pore structure have been recognized as effective Hg(II) adsorbents. However, bare FeS nanoparticles can aggregate easily, which greatly limited their engineering applications.

Spectrophotometric Determination of Fe(II), Fe(III), and Total Fe
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1971Abstract The orderly use of two known reactions [Fe(II) with α,α'-dipyridyl and Fe(III) with ascorbic acid] allowed to take place successively in the same aliquot sample solution provides a procedure for the quantitative determination of Fe(II), Fe(III), and total Fe. The procedure is simple, rapid, and sensitive enough to cope with samples containing
