Isolated fetal lymphatic malformation of the thigh: prenatal diagnosis and follow-up

open access: yesAutopsy and Case Reports, 2017
Fetal lymphatic malformation can be found in different parts of the fetal body. It occurs most frequently in the nuchal and axillary region and less frequently in the abdomen or inguinal areas.

GPR124 Alleviates Blood–Brain Barrier Disruption by Enhancing Microvascular Endothelial Function after Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Our study reveals the protective role of GPR124 in maintaining BBB integrity and promoting neurological recovery following TBI. It makes a significant contribution by uncovering a novel molecular interaction between GPR124 and FGFBP1 and linking this to activation of the Wnt/β‐catenin signaling pathway in vascular repair mechanisms.

Prenatal diagnosis of isochromosome 20q in a fetus with vertebral anomaly and rocker-bottom feet

open access: yesTaiwanese Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2017
Objective: Isochromosome of the long arm of chromosome 20 (i(20q)) is a rare structural abnormality in prenatal diagnosis. Thirty prenatal cases of mosaic i(20q) have been reported, among which only four are associated with fetal malformations.

Marburg Virus Glycoprotein Is a Remarkable Virulent Factor Linked to Hemorrhagic Pathology: Evidence from Multimodal Experimental Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By integrating data from in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo models, our research identifies the MARV glycoprotein as a remarkable hemorrhagic factor, filling a major gap in this important field. It also provides practical experimental tools for the basic research on viral pathogenesis and applied research aimed at antiviral intervention for hemorrhagic ...

Fetal Axillary Cystic Hygroma; a case report and review

open access: yesRare Tumors, 2011
The Cystic Hygroma (CH) is a lymphatic malformation occurring different parts of fetal body, typically in the region of the fetal neck and axillary, abdominal wall, mediastinal, inguinal and retroperitoneal areas.

Mechanostimulatory Cues Determine Intestinal Fibroblast Fate and Profibrotic Remodeling in a Physiodynamic Human Gut‐on‐a‐Chip

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A healthy gut barrier shields underlying fibroblasts from luminal shear forces, illustrating that “good fences make good neighbors.” Barrier damage exposes fibroblasts to shear stress, inducing cell death and the emergence of stress‐adapted, profibrotic fibroblasts. Sustained shear exposure promotes the formation of stiff aggregates of mechanoadapative

Correlation between ultrasound diagnosis and autopsy findings of fetal malformations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Objective: to compare ultrasound (US) and autopsy findings of fetal malformations in second trimester terminations of pregnancy to evaluate the degree of agreement between US and fetal autopsy. Methods: in this study, all second trimester termination of

The 'brain shadowing sign': a novel marker of fetal craniosynostosis

open access: yes, 2016
Introduction: The prenatal diagnosis of fetal craniosynostosis is challenging, especially in single-suture cases. When sutures are obliterated, sound waves fail to penetrate the cortical bone, creating an evident acoustic shadow on the underlying brain ...

Functional Mapping of Neurodevelopmental Disease Pathways to Key Neurodevelopmental Processes Represented in the Developmental Neurotoxicity In Vitro Testing Battery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Human‐relevant methods are essential for modern chemical safety assessment. This study helps define the capabilities and boundaries of an in vitro testing battery for developmental neurotoxicity by exploring its biological applicability domain. By linking neurodevelopmental disease‐related pathways to key neurodevelopmental processes, the work enhances
