Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

Concise Review: Fetal Membranes in Regenerative Medicine: New Tricks from an Old Dog?

open access: yes, 2017
The clinical application of the fetal membranes dates back to nearly a century. Their use has ranged from superficial skin dressings to surgical wound closure.

Effect of supracervical apposition and spontaneous labour on apoptosis and matrix metalloproteinases in human fetal membranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
BACKGROUND: Apoptosis and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP-9) are capable of hydrolysing components of the extracellular matrix and weakening the fetal membranes which leads to eventual rupture, a key process of human parturition.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Impact of excessive pregnancy weight gain on pregnancy outcomes and neonatal conditions in pre-pregnancy overweight and obese women

open access: yesShanghai yufang yixue
ObjectiveTo explore the influence of excessive weight gain during pregnancy in pre-pregnancy overweight and obese women on pregnancy outcomes and neonatal conditions, and to provide scientific evidence for formulating weight management strategies before ...

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Study on calving pattern in buffaloes

open access: yesVeterinary World, 2010
The present investigation was carried out on 12 parous she buffaloes maintained by farmers in the rural area around Bidar district. The dilation of cervix, expulsion of fetus and the expulsion of fetal membranes required a mean duration of 35.25±1 ...

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

The Young's modulus of fetal preterm and term amniotic membranes

open access: yes, 2006
OBJECTIVE: To examine the Young's modulus of the human amniotic membranes, as well as its relationship to gestational age. To determine whether cellular and material-related parameters affect this modulus.
