Case Report: Primary cardiac synovial sarcoma invading the tricuspid valve in a pregnant woman

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine
Primary cardiac synovial sarcoma (PCSS) is a rare and highly aggressive tumor with a significant mortality rate. Treatment guidelines have not been defined given the relative rarity of the condition, especially for pregnant women.

Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

Management of Severe Mitral Stenosis and Intrahepatic Cholestasis in a Pregnant Woman: A Case Report on Achieving Favorable Maternal and Neonatal Outcomes

open access: yesMedical Journal of Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth
Mitral stenosis (MS) and intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (IHCP) are two distinct and complex conditions that can significantly complicate pregnancy, leading to increased maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. While MS primarily affects cardiac

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Treating without guidelines: management and outcomes of lung cancer diagnosed during pregnancy — a systematic review

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
BackgroundLung cancer during pregnancy is exceedingly rare and poses unique diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. Clinical decisions must balance urgent, potentially lifesaving maternal treatment with fetal safety, often in the absence of evidence-based

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
