Fetofetal transfusion syndrome is a dreaded cause of morbidity and mortality in monochorionic pregnancies. We present two pairs of twins one of which we have followed for more than 6 years. The donors suffer from cerebral palsy, orofacial, and motor problems, and both are significantly smaller than their recipient twins.

Clinical evidence suggests that increased amniotic fluid volume due to polyhydramnios increases placental vascular resistance. We have sought to model the possible effects of an increased amniotic fluid volume on the net fetofetal transfusion in monochorionic twin pregnancies. We wanted to compare these effects with the results of previous simulations,

[Acute and chronic fetofetal transfusion syndrome].
Klinische Padiatrie, 1997In the fetofetal transfusion syndrome we can discriminate between a chronic form with severe difference in weight and an acute form with a difference in haemoglobin between the twins. The aim of the retrospective study was to investigate the influence of both forms regarding infant morbidity and mortality.Of the 135 twins treated from 1.1.1984 to 31.12.

[Fetofetal transfusion syndrome. A case report].
Zentralblatt fur Gynakologie, 1988Report about a twin pregnancy with an urgent necessary caesarean section because of a silent curve in the antenatal cardiotocography. The diagnosis of the fetofetal transfusion syndrome was made postnatally. The anastomosis between the two vessel areas of the placenta with respect to the donator--and acceptor--placenta has been visualized by x-ray ...

[Twin pregnancies with fetofetal transfusion syndrome].
Zeitschrift fur Geburtshilfe und Perinatologie, 1990During an observation period of 10 years 30 cases (11%) of twin transfusion syndrome were observed in a collective of 286 twin pregnancies at the University Women's Clinic Heidelberg. Typical symptoms of a twin transfusion syndrome as polyhydramnios, hydrops fetalis, polyserositis, disparity in fetal growth of the twins and pathological CTGs were ...

[Prenatal management of fetofetal transfusion syndrome].
Geburtshilfe und Frauenheilkunde, 1995The twin-twin transfusion syndrome is a rare but severe complication in monozygotic twins. A total of 172 twin pregnancies were investigated in our hospital between January 1990 and August 1993. Multicystic encephalomalacia is a condition of cerebral necrosis followed by the formation of cystic lesions of varying sized starting from the periventricular area and may extending to the cerebral cortex. This disorder may happens in surviving cotwins after the second and third-trimester intrauterine fetal death of one twin in monochorionic ...

[Fetofetal transfusion syndrome in twin pregnancy with prune belly syndrome].
Zeitschrift fur Geburtshilfe und Perinatologie, 1987The authors report on a twin pregnancy with one phenotypically normal twin and one with Prune-Belly-syndrome. Since a severe urethral obstruction-malformation complex was apparent, a premature vaginal delivery was aimed for. A pathologic CTG of the healthy twin, with silent and sinusoidal graph pattern, rendered a primary cesarean section necessary in ...
