Management of Severe Neonatal Anemia Due to Fetomaternal Transfusion
American Journal of Perinatology, 1999Three cases of severe neonatal anemia due to fetomaternal transfusion are reported. The key features that lead to early diagnosis were the maternal history, fetal monitoring, the clinical and laboratory findings of anemia, and a negative Coombs test. Diagnosis was confirmed by a rapid Kleihauer-Betke test.

Intraplacental choriocarcinoma with fetomaternal transfusion
Pathology International, 2000AbstractIntraplacental choriocarcinoma is very rare, and is usually found only after maternal and fetal metastatic disease is identified. The purpose of this case report is to review the incidence and findings of intraplacental choriocarcinoma. A term placenta was investigated because the newborn was born with severe anemia (Hb 3.0 g/dL). A 2 cm nodule

[Chronic fetomaternal transfusion].
Padiatrie und Padologie, 1984Transplacental feto-maternal hemorrhage was diagnosed after delivery of a highly anemic infant from a healthy mother with polyhydramnios by demonstration of fetal red cells in the maternal circulation (145 degrees/00) using a modified Kleihauer technique.

Massive Fetomaternal Hemorrhage Secondary to Intrauterine Intravascular Transfusion
Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2011Small-volume fetomaternal hemorrhage is frequently observed after intrauterine transfusion. The Kleihauer-Betke test, the reference method for identifying fetomaternal hemorrhage, cannot be used after intrauterine transfusion, because the adult red blood cells used for transfusion cannot be distinguished from maternal red blood cells.Massive ...

ONGOING FETOMATERNAL HEMORRHAGE TREATED BY SERIAL FETAL INTRAVASCULAR TRANSFUSIONS
Obstetrics & Gynecology, 1990Nonimmune hydrops secondary to atraumatic, massive fetomaternal hemorrhage was diagnosed at 33.5 weeks' gestation by a maternal Kleihauer-Betke stain, confirmed by funipuncture. The initial fetal hematocrit was 6.5%. Kleihauer-Betke testing revealed a fetomaternal hemorrhage of approximately 230 mL.

[Fetomaternal transfusions in early pregnancy].
Zeitschrift fur Geburtshilfe und Perinatologie, 1991Fetomaternal bleeding is the major cause for rhesus immunization in pregnancy. This study evaluates the amount of fetomaternal bleeding in 345 pregnancies before 28th week of gestation. Fetomaternal bleeding was of clinical relevance (HbF greater than 0.015%) in 2.2% of all uncomplicated pregnancies.
