Few-Mode Fibers for Space Division Multiplexing
Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2016Mode Division Multiplexing: potential high number of usable spatial modes and strong mode overlapping (high spatial density and efficient pumping for amplification) FMFs for WEAKLY-COUPLED MDM 4-LP-mode Fibers have been reported, 7-LP-mode Fibers (capacity increase of a factor of 12) seem feasible Main limitations are Aeff, Attenuation and XT: new ...

Rigorous study of supercontinuum generation in few mode fibers
Applied Optics, 2016We numerically studied supercontinuum (SC) generation in a few-mode photonic crystal fiber (PCF). We have shown the impact of the intermodal nonlinear effects that could limit the fundamental mode nonlinear propagation due to the coupling induced by high-order optical modes.

Few-Mode Energy-Managed Soliton Fiber Laser
2025 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC)We present an all-anomalous mode-locked laser architecture combining a few-mode gain fiber with single-mode passive fibers. This hybrid fiber laser generates high-energy pulses whose features are controlled by an intracavity spectral filter. Using a 1.7-nm filter bandwidth, the laser delivers 2.5-ps pulses of 39-nJ energy and 15.6-kW peak power ...
