In this paper, the LP11 mode evolution in a few mode-polarization maintaining fiber is experimentally investigated. Selective conversion from the LP11a/LP11b mode to the LP11b/LP11a , OAM+1, and OAM−1 modes are demonstrated with varying ...

This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

Few-mode fiber based optical sensors
Few-mode fibers (FMFs) have found applications in optical communications and sensors with attractive features that standard single mode fiber (SSMF) do not possess. We report our recent progress on FMF based optical sensors, and show the potential of utilizing the spatial dimension for multi-parameter sensing with discrimination capability.

A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Heterogeneous 12-Core 4-LP-Mode Fiber Based on Trench-Assisted Graded-Index Profile
We design a heterogeneous 12-core 4-LP-mode fiber having two different types of cores and trench-assisted graded-index profiles. For the optimum design of the index profiles of these two heterogeneous cores, we first investigate the impacts of various ...

Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Temperature-Insensitive Strain Sensing Based On Few Mode Fiber
In order to solve the problem of cross sensitivity of temperature and strain that generally exits in fiber-optic sensor, the strain and temperature sensing characteristics of LP01 and LP02 mode interference based on the inter-modal interference principle
