A Curved‐Bar Rack‐Bypass System With Innovative Foil Shaped Bars: Hydraulics, Operational Aspects, and Swimming Behavior of Downstream Moving Brown Trout

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 61, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract Curved bar rack ‐ bypass systems (CBR‐BS) are a promising technology for diverting downstream moving fish away from hydropower intakes. A CBR functions as a mechanical behavioral barrier by creating high velocity and pressure gradients along its bars, guiding approaching fish that exhibit avoidance reactions towards the bypass.

Opinion of the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) on defining pathogenic strains of Shiga toxin‐producing Escherichia coli

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 3, Issue 3, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Shiga toxin‐producing Escherichia coli (STEC) are pathogenic E. coli strains that have been associated with a wide range of human clinical illness ranging from mild diarrhoea to bloody diarrhoea (BD) and haemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). In its opinion of 18 May 2017, the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety

Modelling Glacier Mass Balance and Runoff in the Kaskawulsh River Headwaters of Southwest Yukon, Canada, 1980–2022

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 39, Issue 6, June 2025.
The Kaskawulsh River headwaters marks the drainage divide between the two major river basins in Yukon, Canada. We use an enhanced temperature‐index model that integrates available in situ accumulation and ablation data to reconstruct the 1980–2022 glacier mass balance and catchment‐wide discharge.

Opinion and report of the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) relating to an analysis of the health risks associated with exposure to caterpillars with stinging hairs and the development of management recommendations

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 3, Issue 2, April 2025.
Abstract Several species of Lepidoptera with caterpillars bearing urticating hairs are increasing their range in metropolitan France from year to year, such as the pine processionary (Thaumetopoea pityocampa Denis et Schiffermüller 1775) whose presence was historically limited to the south of France, and which is gradually being observed in the north ...

Opinion and report of the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) on the assessment of the impact of fox population dynamics on public health

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 3, Issue 2, April 2025.
ABSTRACT The Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) can be hunted as a game species. It may also be listed as a “species likely to cause damage” (ESOD – the acronym in French), for public health reasons among others. Conversely, benefits linked to the presence of foxes are also put forward, such as the predation of rodents carrying zoonotic agents.

Experimental Evaluation of Bio‐Based Materials in Epoxidation Techniques

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Epoxy composites as per their excellent adhesive behavior, mechanical strength, electrical insulation, and chemical resistance have been utilized in a number of applications and constitute a major chunk of polymer industry. Epoxy, since ages, has been derived from petrochemicals which has been a major source of environmental pollution and has drawn a ...

Ubiquitin's Conformational Heterogeneity as Discerned by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 25, Issue 24, December 16, 2024.
Much of our understanding into protein conformational heterogeneity stems from NMR‐based studies of the 76 amino acid protein ubiquitin which is an omni‐present post‐translational modification playing an integral role in ubiquitination, a process regulating nearly all aspects of cellular function. Herein, we discuss 30+ years of NMR research pertaining

Enhanced Hyperpolarizabilities Through p‐Phenylene Bridges: Computational Studies on Metamerism and Functional Molecular Properties of Pyridinium–Dicyanomethanide‐Based Zwitterions

open access: yesJournal of Physical Organic Chemistry, Volume 37, Issue 12, December 2024.
As impact of metamerism, Reichardt's type zwitterion (twisted conformation) showed around three times enhanced hyperpolarizabilities (β) than Brooker's type (slightly twisted—indicating limitation in long‐range propagation of mesomeric resonance effects).

Re‐evaluation of saccharin and its sodium, potassium and calcium salts (E 954) as food additives

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 22, Issue 11, November 2024.
Abstract This opinion deals with the re‐evaluation of saccharin and its sodium, potassium and calcium salts (E 954) as food additives. Saccharin is the chemically manufactured compound 1,2‐benzisothiazol‐3(2H)‐one‐1,1‐dioxide. Along with its sodium (Na), potassium (K) and calcium (Ca) salts, they are authorised as sweeteners (E 954).
