Modified backoff technique in fiber-wireless networks
2012 IEEE 23rd International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications - (PIMRC), 2012A rapid development of broadband telecommunication services has strongly motivated the necessity of upgrading the access network infrastructure. As of now, network traffic load remains a bottleneck in efforts to deliver video, voice as well as advanced internet applications to residential customers due to the limitation of available bandwidth.

DSP for High-Speed Fiber-Wireless Convergence
Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2018We review recent advances in the common public radio interfaces (CPRI/eCPRI) between remote radio units and baseband units via optical fiber, and discuss how DSP may be used to support both CPRI and eCPRI to achieve high bandwidth efficiency and low processing latency.

Ultra high-speed fiber wireless transport
Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2014This paper describes high-speed data transmission based on combination of optical fiber and radio-wave links, which would enable low-latency transfer and agile deployment capability, where broadband radio signal waveforms can be transferred by radio-on-fiber technology.

Fiber-wireless networks incorporating wavelength division multiplexing
SPIE Proceedings, 2006Broadband wireless access operating in the microwave and millimeter-wave frequency windows has been actively investigated for future ultra broadband communications. The drastic increase in the throughout of each base station in these systems necessitates the use of an optical fiber backbone to provide broadband interconnections between the central ...

Photonics-based transceivers for fiber-wireless networks
2016 18th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2016The increase of data traffic in wireless networks is requiring the bandwidth of photonics for the antenna data relay. While the distribution of RF signals through Radio-over-Fiber has become a well-accepted and established technology thanks to the low loss of fibers in signal transportation, photonics still has lot to offer to the radio world.

Digitized wireless transport for fiber-wireless systems
2011 13th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks, 2011To overcome the impairments associated with signal transport over analog photonic links, we have introduced digitized RF transport scheme for fiber-wireless applications. This transport scheme which is based on bandpass sampling technique ensures that the signal is immune to nonlinear effects arising from the optical link and improves the overall ...

ONU placement in Fiber-Wireless (FiWi) Networks
2013 Nirma University International Conference on Engineering (NUiCONE), 2013In recent years, there is a explosive growth in a internet users which require a broadband access network with high capacity and better flexibility and gets service in “anywhere-anytime” manner. The solution is a FIWI technology which proving itself a main tool in the field of telecommunication by its own merits over the other existing technologies ...

Fiber-wireless technology for small cell backhauling
2015 17th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2015In this paper, we review some work we have carried out in the area of fiber-based small cell backhauling in particular focussing on the energy efficient transport schemes and network planning. Our study shows that for densely packed small cells in an urban scenario, analog transport of the wireless signals over the optical link is most energy efficient.

CWDM Fiber-wireless Employing a Supercontinuum Source
Advanced Int'l Conference on Telecommunications and Int'l Conference on Internet and Web Applications and Services (AICT-ICIW'06), 2006To meet the current and future needs of the increasing bandwidth demand in wireless communications, base-to-base communication requires fast, reliable, secure and elastic bandwidth. One communication technology that meets these challenges is the fiber with wavelength division multiplexing.
