Amplified Fiber-Optic Recirculating Delay Lines [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Experimental and theoretical results on single- and double-amplified recirculating delay lines are presented. One of our aims is to emphasize their application as filters, showing a wide flexibility of design.

Fiber Coupled High Power Nd:YAG Laser for Nondestructive Laser Cleaning

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
In this study, a fiber coupled high power side-pumped Nd:YAG laser system for laser cleaning is presented. Based on the two-rod structure and two stages amplifiers, the maximum average output power of 783 W with corresponding pulse energy of 52 mJ at 15 ...

Coupled experiment/simulation approach for the design of radiation-hardened rare-earth doped optical fibers and amplifiers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We developed an approach to design radiation-hardened rare earth -doped fibers and amplifiers. This methodology combines testing experiments on these devices with particle swarm optimization (PSO) calculations.

Photonic crystal fiber amplifiers for high power ultrafast fiber lasers

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2013
In recent years, ultrafast laser systems using large-mode-area fiber amplifiers delivering several hundreds of watts of average power has attracted significant academic and industrial interest.

Intensity noise as a driver for transverse mode instability in fiber amplifiers

open access: yes, 2020
The effect of transverse mode instability (TMI) is currently the main limitation for the further average-power scaling of fiber laser systems with diffraction-limited beam quality.

550 W single frequency fiber amplifiers emitting at 1030 nm based on a tapered Yb-doped fiber.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2020
In this paper, we report a high power single frequency 1030 nm fiber laser with near-diffraction-limited beam quality based on a polarization-maintaining tapered Yb-doped fiber (T-YDF).

Thermal modeling of resonantly pumped high power Tm-doped fiber amplifiers

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2022
A thermal model concerning resonantly pumped high power Tm-doped fiber amplifiers is established with temperature dependent parameters taken into consideration. With this model, performance of resonantly pumped Tm-doped fiber amplifiers at 1 kW output is

Self-Phase Modulation-Induced Instability of High-Power Narrow-Linewidth Fiber Amplifiers

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
In this study, we investigated the effect of self-phase modulation (SPM)-induced modulation instability (MI) on the spectral purity of high-power narrow-linewidth fiber amplifiers and established a spectral evolution model for SPM-induced MI in those ...

Transverse mode instability, thermal lensing and power scaling in Yb3+-doped high-power fiber amplifiers.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2019
Transverse mode instability (TMI) is compared to thermal lensing (TL) power threshold and used to derive power scaling limits in high-power fiber amplifiers. The TMI power threshold is shown to be ~65% of the TL one and dominates power scaling.
