Writing Bragg Gratings in Multicore Fibers [PDF]
Fiber Bragg gratings in multicore fibers can be used as compact and robust filters in astronomical and other research and commercial applications. Strong suppression at a single wavelength requires that all cores have matching transmission profiles. These gratings cannot be inscribed using the same method as for single-core fibers because the curved ...

Single-mode sapphire fiber Bragg grating [PDF]
We present here the inscription of single-mode waveguides with Bragg gratings in sapphire. The waveguide Bragg gratings have a novel multi-layer depressed cladding design in the 1550 nm telecommunications waveband. The Bragg gratings have a narrow bandwidth (<0.5 nm) and have survived annealing at 1000{\deg}C.

Fluorinated Polyimide-Film Based Temperature and Humidity Sensor Utilizing Fiber Bragg Grating
We propose and demonstrate a temperature and humidity sensor based on a fluorinated polyimide film and fiber Bragg grating. Moisture-induced film expansion or contraction causes an extra strain, which is transferred to the fiber Bragg grating and leads ...

Photothermal effects in fiber Bragg gratings
Writing a fiber Bragg grating in optical fiber generates an intrinsic broadband absorption term that can result in photothermal heating during subsequent use with fiber core guided light. This, in turn, can cause a significant shift of a grating resonance via the thermo-optic coefficient, even at low in-fiber light powers.

Continuously Tunable Erbium-Doped Fiber Ring Laser Using Fiber Bragg Grating
An efficient tunable erbium-doped fiber (EDF) ring laser utilizing a single fiber Bragg grating (FBG) and an optical circulator is investigated. The laser demonstrates a threshold of 3.43 mW and a slope efficiency of 12.5%.

Point-by-point inscription of apodized fiber Bragg gratings [PDF]
We demonstrate apodized fiber Bragg gratings inscribed with a point-by-point technique. We tailor the grating phase and coupling amplitude through precise control over the longitudinal and transverse position of each laser-inscribed modification. This method of apodization is facilitated by the highly-localized, high-contrast modifications generated by

Chebyshev apodized fiber Bragg gratings
In this paper, a new apodized fiber Bragg grating (FBG) structure, the Chebyshev apodization, is proposed. The Chebyshev polynomial distribution has been widely used for the optimal design of antennas and filters, but it has not been used for designing FBGs.
