Polymer micro-fiber Bragg grating
Optics Letters, 2013Polymer micro-fibers with inscribed Bragg gratings are reported in this Letter. Starting with a single-mode polymer optical fiber and implementing a two-stage tapering process, a 16 μm diameter micro-fiber is fabricated and a Bragg grating is inscribed in it that exhibits a peak reflected wavelength circa 1530 nm.

Tilted fiber Bragg grating sensors
Laser & Photonics Reviews, 2012AbstractOptical fiber gratings have developed into a mature technology with a wide range of applications in various areas, including physical sensing for temperature, strain, acoustic waves and pressure. All of these applications rely on the perturbation of the period or refractive index of a grating inscribed in the fiber core as a transducing ...

Sapphire fiber Bragg gratings inscribed with a femtosecond laser line-by-line scanning technique.
Optics Letters, 2018We propose and demonstrate the fabrication of single-crystal sapphire fiber Bragg gratings (SFBGs) using a femtosecond laser line-by-line scanning technique.

Fiber optics has emerged as a promising sensing technology over the past two decades. Fiber optic sensors (FOS) have generated great interest due to their small size, immunity to electro-magnetic interference and radio frequency (RF) interference, inherent safety, and accuracy.

Random fiber Bragg grating Raman fiber laser
Optics Letters, 2014We demonstrate for the first time to our knowledge a Raman random fiber laser (RRFL) based on a long random fiber Bragg grating (RFBG-RRFL). Unlike other recently demonstrated random fiber lasers that rely on incoherent Rayleigh scattering feedback, the present scheme uses randomly distributed phase shifts inside a fiber-meter long Bragg grating as a ...

Comparative analysis of silica fiber Bragg grating and chalcogenide fiber Bragg grating
Materials Today: Proceedings, 2021Abstract Sensing performance of silica fiber Bragg grating (FBG) and chalcogenide FBG are compared in presence of apodization functions. The Bessel and Gaussian apodization functions are chosen in this analysis. These fibers are compared on the basis of their sensitivity, detection accuracy, quality parameter and sidelobe suppression ability ...

Fiber Bragg grating technology
Conference Proceedings LEOS'96 9th Annual Meeting IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society, 2002Bragg gratings in fiber and planar waveguides are now coming into practical use for telecommunications, data communications, and signal processing applications. New high power fiber lasers are also using fiber gratings. Various devices for these applications require different types of Bragg gratings.

An optical fiber polarizer is constructed with a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) based on birefringence effects induced by a transverse force applied to a section of the grating. In this work we present the principle of operation and experimental results of this device.

Microstructured Fiber Bragg Gratings
Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2009The first fiber Bragg gratings were accidentally written in a Ge-doped silica fiber using a high power argon-ion laser [Hill 1978]. Following this first evidence of photosensitivity in optical fibers, a huge effort was put into fiber gratings: improving their fabrication (they are now all externally inscribed), obtaining complex profiles, optimizing ...
