Results of study of long-fiber flax’s collection material by the parameters of economically valuable traits

open access: yesАграрная наука Евро-Северо-Востока, 2018
Cultivated common flax (Linum usitatissimum L.) is a traditional Russian technological crop of complex usage. Estimation of seasonal effects in economically valuable traits (productivity of straw and seeds; content of fiber and its quality) of long-fiber

Mechanical performance of glass-based geopolymer matrix composites reinforced with cellulose fibers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Glass-based geopolymers, incorporating fly ash and borosilicate glass, were processed in conditions of high alkalinity (NaOH 10-13 M). Different formulations (fly ash and borosilicate in mixtures of 70-30 wt% and 30-70 wt%, respectively) and physical ...

Effects of fiber content and its chemical treatment on the mechanical properties of screw pine fiber reinforced vinyl ester composite

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2022
Natural fiber-reinforced polymer composites have several advantages over traditional composites. The chemical modification of natural fibers helps to develop polymer composites with better mechanical properties. In the present work, mechanical properties

In vitro and in vivo degradation of non-woven materials made of poly(e-caprolactone) nanofibers prepared by electrospinning at different conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The aim of this study was to prepare non-woven materials from a biodegradable polymer, poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) by electrospinning. PCL was synthesized by ring-opening polymerization of ε-caprolactone in bulk using stannous octoate as the catalyst ...

A Genome-Wide Association Study and Genomic Prediction for Fiber and Sucrose Contents in a Mapping Population of LCP 85-384 Sugarcane

open access: yesPlants, 2023
Sugarcane (Saccharum spp. hybrids) is an economically important crop for both sugar and biofuel industries. Fiber and sucrose contents are the two most critical quantitative traits in sugarcane breeding that require multiple-year and multiple-location ...

Feasibility and Preliminary Efficacy of Integrative Neuromuscular Training for Childhood Cancer Survivors: A Pilot Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) often exhibit early deficits in muscle and movement competence, which can compromise long‐term health. Integrative neuromuscular training (INT), a multifaceted approach combining fundamental movement activities with strength exercises, may help address these deficits during ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

The Significance of Multi-Size Carbon Fibers on the Mechanical and Fracture Characteristics of Fiber Reinforced Cement Composites

open access: yesFibers, 2022
One of the main challenges of using a high fiber volume content in a cement composite is the narrow margin of fiber volume content beyond which fibers can cause an adverse effect on the mechanical properties. In this paper, the significance of fiber size

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
