Fiber To Fiber Coupling In A Multichannel Sensor System
SPIE Proceedings, 1988An electromechanical optical scanner is described, which, allows the sequential coupling. of a single to 19 multimode optical fibers. In order to achieve a good. coupling efficiency between the fibers, quarter pitch graded index microlenses (GRIN) are used.

Wedge coupling of lasers into multimode fibers
Applied Optics, 1983Design and experimental data for obtuse-angled wedges used in coupled configurations of diode lasers and multimode fibers are presented. An analytic definition of the connection between the wedge angle and the fiber acceptance half-angle is developed, along with a formula for the minimum half-angle.

Coupling of Optical Fibers and Scattering in Fibers*
Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1965The phenomena of optical coupling of parallel fibers and scattering of light from a fiber due to rough walls are considered from a mode point of view. With the use of a Green’s function, the problems are cast in the form of integral equations. Coupled ordinary differential equations are obtained which are used to study the coupling of modes in parallel

Fiber mode coupling in transmissive and reflective tilted fiber gratings
Applied Optics, 2000Whereas core-mode reflection and core-mode-to-radiation-mode coupling in tilted fiber Bragg gratings is well understood, as is coupling between a core mode and higher-order core and cladding modes in untilted gratings, here we analyze in detail the coupling among core modes and cladding modes in reflective and transmissive tilted fiber gratings.

The passive devices presented so far are based on single-mode high index-contrast (HIC) wave-guiding which enables the dense integration of many such devices on a photonic integrated circuit (PIC). A major disadvantage of this approach, compared with more conventional low index-contrast (such as silica based) integrated optics, is the difficulty of ...

Coupling characteristics between single-core fiber and multicore fiber
Optics Letters, 2006A simple method for coupling between a single-core single-mode fiber and a multicore single-mode fiber is proposed and demonstrated. An effective coupling approach is based on a process of standard splicing and tapering between the single-core single-mode fiber and the multicore single-mode fiber.

Resonant directional coupling of hollow Bragg fibers
Optics Letters, 2004Coupling between the lowest-loss TE01 modes of two touching hollow-core Bragg fibers is considered with a view to designing a directional coupler. We have found that for fibers with core radii larger than 10 microm one can identify broad frequency ranges in which intermodal coupling strength exceeds supermode radiation losses by an order of magnitude ...

Coupling of Stochastic Electromagnetic Beams into Optical Fibers
Frontiers in Optics 2009/Laser Science XXV/Fall 2009 OSA Optics & Photonics Technical Digest, 2009We derive a general analytic expression for the coupling efficiency when a partially coherent, partially polarized beam is coupled into a multimode optical fiber. We adopt the Gaussian-Schell model for incident electromagnetic beams and use our general result to discuss the effects of the partial coherence and partial polarization on the coupling ...

Intensity noise coupling in soliton fiber oscillators
Optics Letters, 2016We present an experimental and numerical study on the spectrally resolved pump-to-output intensity noise coupling in soliton fiber oscillators. In our study, we observe a strong pump noise coupling to the Kelly sidebands, while the coupling to the soliton pulse is damped.

For miniaturized optical fiber coupled MOEMS systems, fiber coupling on chip level is necessary. Therefore a silicon chip based optical fiber coupling with high position accuracy is introduced. In this paper, we present the fiber chip coupling on two examples: A superconducting single photon detector (SSPD) and a miniaturized fiber Bragg grating sensor.
