Coupling efficiency optimization of a coupled GRIN fiber lens single-mode fiber array

SPIE Proceedings, 1990
Coupling efficiency optimization in a multichannel device composed by a SingleMode Fiber (51fF) array coupled to a GRIN Fiber Lens (FL) array is studied. Curves of coupling efficiency limited by diffraction in each pair GFLSMF is analyzed.

Fluorescent Fiber-Optic Sensor Arrays Probed Utilizing Evanescent Fiber-Fiber Coupling

Applied Spectroscopy, 2001
Optical-fiber sensors that use fluorescent probes located in the fiber cladding are of great interest for monitoring physical and chemical properties in their environment. The interrogation of a fluorophore with a short laser pulse propagating through the fiber core allows for the measurement of the location of the fluorophore by measuring the time ...

Fiber coupled waveguide grating structures

Applied Physics Letters, 2010
Fabrication and characterization of the miniature device of waveguide grating-structures (WGS) on the end facet of an optical fiber are demonstrated. A layer of ZnO between the fiber and the grating structures serves as the waveguide. The fiber is used to direct the excitation light to the WGS and to carry the signal response back to the detection ...

Coupled power equations for lossy fibers

Applied Optics, 1978
Coupled power equations for multimode fibers were originally derived by neglecting mode losses, loss was later introduced by adding a phenomenological loss factor to the equation system. In this paper the time independent coupled power equations are derived taking mode losses into account from the beginning.

Coupled-core optical fiber sensing

Optica Advanced Photonics Congress 2022, 2022
The use of optical fibers with coupled cores is proposed for sensing applications. The interrogation of coupled-core fiber sensors is simple, fast and inexpensive as the parameter being sensed can be detected as intensity changes.

Fiber-coupled Compact Terahertz System

2005 International Topical Meeting on Microwave Photonics, 2005
We constructed fiber-coupled compact terahertz time domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) system. In this system, we compensate the positive group-delay dispersion (GDD) in fibers by means of gratings. By investigating the relation between the optical pulse-width and the terahertz bandwidth of the system, we optimized the amount of compensation.

Multi-fiber Coupling for Wide Field Fiber Interferometry

EAS Publications Series, 2003
Adaptive Optics is now making it possible to efficiently use large telescopes in ground-based interferometers. Spatial filtering, especially with optical fibers, allows accurate interferometric measures to be done on these new interferometers (VLTI, Keck, OHANA).

Coupling of Optical Fibers and Scattering in Fibers*

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1965
The phenomena of optical coupling of parallel fibers and scattering of light from a fiber due to rough walls are considered from a mode point of view. With the use of a Green’s function, the problems are cast in the form of integral equations. Coupled ordinary differential equations are obtained which are used to study the coupling of modes in parallel

Coupling mechanism in multimode fibers

SPIE Proceedings, 2013
The steady increase of bandwidth demand in worldwide communications has revived the interest about multimode optical bers and their use in spatial division multiplexed systems. Roughly speaking, in these systems transmission capacity is increased by using modes as separate channels, resorting to either special ber with negligible mode coupling, or to ...
