Fiber laser development for LISA

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2010
We have developed a linearly-polarized Ytterbium-doped fiber ring laser with single longitudinal-mode output at 1064nm for LISA and other space applications. Single longitudinal-mode selection was achieved by using a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) and a fiber Fabry-Perot (FFP). The FFP also serves as a frequency-reference within our ring laser.

Cotton proteomics: Dissecting the stress response mechanisms in cotton

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
The natural environment of plants comprises a complex set of biotic and abiotic stresses, and plant responses to these stresses are complex as well. Plant proteomics approaches have significantly revealed dynamic changes in plant proteome responses to ...

Potential of Wood Harvesting Residues and Residual Stand Damage due to Timber Harvesting: A Case Study at PT Austral Byna in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Forestry Research, 2022
The practice of timber harvesting in natural forests which has been conducted up to now still leaves wood harvesting residue and residual stand damage. Most condition of wood harvesting residue is still good and can be utilized.

A Novel Tandem Zinc Finger Protein in Gossypium hirsutum, GhTZF2, Interacts with GhMORF8 to Regulate Cotton Fiber Cell Development

open access: yesAgronomy, 2023
Arginine-rich Tandem Zinc Finger (RR-TZF) proteins make up a plant-specific superfamily that participates in plant development, while their roles in cotton fiber development remain to be explored.

UDP-Glucose Dehydrogenases: Identification, Expression, and Function Analyses in Upland Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum)

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2021
UDP-glucose dehydrogenase (UGD; EC1.1.1.22) is a NAD+-dependent enzyme that catalyzes the two-fold oxidation of UDP-glucose (UDP-Glc) to produce UDP-glucuronic acid and plays an important role in plant cell wall synthesis.

Cotton fiber as a model for understanding shifts in cell development under domestication

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2023
Cotton fiber provides the predominant plant textile in the world, and it is also a model for plant cell wall biosynthesis. The development of the single-celled cotton fiber takes place across several overlapping but discrete stages, including fiber ...

High-power fiber lasers: new developments [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2003
We assess different power limits of cladding-pumped fiber lasers. Despite recent advances in pump sources, these are still primarily limited by available pump power. We find that it should be possible to reach output powers beyond 1 kW in single-mode ytterbium doped fiber lasers.

Astronomical Applications of Multi-Core Fiber Technology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Optical fibers have altered astronomical instrument design by allowing for a complex, often large instrument to be mounted in a remote and stable location with respect to the telescope.
