Microbial and Animal Limitations to Fiber Digestion and Utilization [PDF]
The ruminal microbial populations attack, degrade and ferment structural carbohydrates in forage cell walls and thereby provide volatile fatty acids and protein to the host animal. Microbial colonization of fiber is quite rapid; however, the rate and extent to which fiber is degraded is determined to a considerable degree by factors such as microbial ...

A self‐gelling PG@PAC (POD/Gel‐CDH@PA/CHX) powder is developed for infected burn care in austere settings. Upon contact with wound exudate, it instantly forms an adhesive hydrogel, providing simultaneous hemostasis, broad‐spectrum antibacterial activity, reactive oxygen species scavenging, and immunomodulation. In a murine model of S.

MagPiezo enables wireless activation of endogenous Piezo1 channels without genetic modification using 19 nm magnetic nanoparticles and low‐intensity magnetic fields. It generates torque forces at the piconewton scale to trigger mechanotransduction in endothelial cells, standing as a novel platform to interrogate and manipulate Piezo1 activity in vitro.

Tissue Engineered Human Elastic Cartilage From Primary Auricular Chondrocytes for Ear Reconstruction
Despite over three decades of research, no tissue‐engineered solution for auricular reconstruction in microtia patients has reached clinical translation. The key challenge lies in generating functional elastic cartilage ex vivo. Here, we integrate synergistic cell‐biomaterial strategies to engineer auricular grafts with mechanical and histological ...

Gut Microbiota Related to Fiber Digestibility were Identified by Variation of Apparent Fiber Digestibility in Chinese Suhuai pig [PDF]
Abstract Background: Dietary fiber plays an important role in porcine gut health and welfare. Fiber mainly degraded by the gut microbiota, whereas most gut microbiota related to fiber digestibility of pigs are still unidentified. To reveal gut microbiota associated with apparent digestibility of neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and acid detergent ...

Terminal domains of recombinant collagen‐like silk regulate hierarchical self‐assembly across molecular and material scales. We show that terminal domains of collagen‐like silk enhance triple‐helix stability and drive liquid–liquid phase separation, enabling reversible formation of fibers and self‐healing films.

Effects of Feeding Nonforage Fiber Sources on Site of Fiber Digestion
Although many nonforage fiber sources have high extents of neutral detergent fiber (NDF) digestion, most have rates of digestion similar to or slower than the rates of forage NDF digestion. Rates of NDF digestion vary considerably among and within sources of by-products.
