We report the development and use of a transmission Raman spectroscopy (TRS) system for a more accurate but nonintrusive way of authentication of API in coated HCQ tablets which otherwise is not possible using the backscattered (BS) configuration of Raman spectroscopy. The coating interference is found to be almost zero in case of the TRS and a greater

High-Speed Control of Fiber Bragg Gratings
FBGs were written in fiber with internal alloy electrodes. Nanosecond high current pulses cause metal expansion, increase birefringence and tune the gratings. High-speed wavelength switching was accomplished with potential use in Q-switching fiber lasers.

Raman spectroscopy successfully identified antibiotic‐resistant Gram‐negative strains. Resistant strains of four bacterial species were discriminated from sensitive ones with 99.1% accuracy using PLS regression. The method allows for rapid, label‐free detection of antibiotic resistance.

Abstract Purpose To evaluate the failure rates of all‐inside meniscal repair based on tear morphology in stable knees (i.e., without concomitant anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction [ACLR]) and to assess the influence of failure. Methods This retrospective cohort study included 1008 patients who underwent arthroscopic all‐inside meniscal repair ...

A technique to fabricate high reflectivity fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) with minimal optics is presented. The FBG is written in high germania boron co-doped optical fiber using a phase mask with a244nm continuous-wave UV light as the printing source.

Abstract Acute, traumatic meniscus tears are common and should be repaired whenever possible. However, the biological age of the patient, along with the specific tear morphology, may significantly influence the selection of the repair technique, expected clinical outcomes and the postoperative rehabilitation protocol.
