A Wigner Function Approach to Coherence in a Talbot-Lau Interferometer
Using a thermal gas, we model the signal of a trapped interferometer. This interferometer uses two short laser pulses, separated by time T, which act as a phase grating for the matter waves.

An electron Talbot interferometer
The Talbot effect, in which a wave imprinted with transverse periodicity reconstructs itself at regular intervals, is a diffraction phenomenon that occurs in many physical systems. Here we present the first observation of the Talbot effect for electron de Broglie waves behind a nanofabricated transmission grating.

Parabolic gratings enhance the X-ray sensitivity of Talbot interferograms
In grating-based X-ray Talbot interferometry, the wave nature of X-ray radiation is exploited to generate phase contrast images of objects that do not generate sufficient contrast in conventional X-ray imaging relying on X-ray absorption.

Ultrafast sub-nanometer matter-wave temporal Talbot effect
The coherent manipulation of the electron wavefunction at the atomic spatial and temporal scales is the fundamental breakthrough underlying far-reaching ultrafast phenomena as high-order harmonic radiation and attosecond pulse generation.

Correction for mechanical inaccuracies in a scanning Talbot-Lau interferometer
Grating-based X-ray phase-contrast and in particular dark-field radiography are promising new imaging modalities for medical applications. Currently, the potential advantage of dark-field imaging in early-stage diagnosis of pulmonary diseases in humans is being investigated.
