Highly Versatile Real‐Time Optical Noise Filtering Through Temporal Cloaking

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 10, 22 May 2026.
Conventional bandpass filtering strategies may be insufficient for recovering optical waveforms under extremely noisy conditions. We demonstrate a temporal‐cloaking denoising strategy enabled by the temporal Talbot effect, which concentrates the coherent signal of interest into short temporal slots while broadband noise remains temporally spread.

Tunable X-ray dark-field imaging for sub-resolution feature size quantification in porous media

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
X-ray computed micro-tomography typically involves a trade-off between sample size and resolution, complicating the study at a micrometer scale of representative volumes of materials with broad feature size distributions (e.g. natural stones). X-ray dark-

A Kapitza–Dirac–Talbot–Lau interferometer for highly polarizable molecules [PDF]

open access: yesNature Physics, 2007
Research on matter waves is a thriving field of quantum physics and has recently stimulated many investigations with electrons, neutrons, atoms, Bose-condensed ensembles, cold clusters and hot molecules. Coherence experiments with complex objects are of interest for exploring the transition to classical physics, for measuring molecular properties and ...

Beam‐hardening correction in clinical x‐ray dark‐field chest radiography using deep‐learning‐based bone segmentation

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 53, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Background Dark‐field radiography is a novel x‐ray imaging modality that provides complementary diagnostic information by visualising microstructural properties of lung tissue. Implemented via a Talbot–Lau interferometer integrated into a conventional x‐ray system, it permits simultaneous acquisition of perfectly registered attenuation and ...

Spectral X-ray dark-field signal characterization from dual-energy projection phase-stepping data with a Talbot-Lau interferometer

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Material-selective analysis of spectral X-ray imaging data requires prior knowledge of the energy dependence of the observed signal. Contrary to conventional X-ray imaging, where the material-specific attenuation coefficient is usually precisely known ...

Transport of Peroxyacyl Nitrates (PANs) Across Northern Hemisphere Ocean Basins From Satellite Observations

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 6, 28 March 2026.
Abstract We leverage global satellite observations of Peroxyacyl Nitrates (PANs) from the Cross‐track Infrared Sounder (CrIS) on the Suomi National Polar‐orbiting Partnership satellite to evaluate seasonal and interannual variations of intercontinental transport in the Northern Hemisphere between 2016 and 2022.

High‐speed quantitative X‐ray multi‐contrast imaging with deep learning based modulated pattern analysis

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, Volume 33, Issue 2, Page 467-480, March 2026.
This work presents a neural‐network framework that accelerates X‐ray multi‐contrast imaging—simultaneously delivering absorption, phase, and dark‐field, while maintaining high spatial resolution, and outperforms correlation‐based methods in speed, achieving a favorable balance between resolution and throughput.

Quantifying grating defects in X-ray Talbot-Lau interferometry through a comparative study of two fabrication techniques

open access: yesScientific Reports
The performance of an X-ray grating interferometry system depends on the geometry and quality of the gratings. Fabrication of micrometer-pitch high-aspect-ratio gold gratings, which are essential for measuring small refraction angles at higher energies ...
