Review study on remote laser welding with fiber lasers
Journal of Laser Applications, 2013The appearance of the high-power fiber laser with brilliant beam quality enables a rapid development of remote laser welding (RLW). In this paper, a theoretical study of remote laser welding has been reviewed. As a promising technology, the RLW offers an increased flexibility, high operational speed, and reduced cycle time to process a wide range of ...

Weld surface roughness is an important criterion for evaluating weld quality. The main factors that affect weld surface roughness in fiber laser keyhole welding are identified by an in situ observation of the dynamic behavior of a keyhole mouth and by analyzing the eruption characteristics of the laser-induced vapor on the front keyhole wall (FKW).

Femtosecond fiber laser welding of dissimilar metals
Applied Optics, 2014In this paper, welding of dissimilar metals was demonstrated for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, by using a high-energy high-repetition-rate femtosecond fiber laser. Metallurgical and mechanical properties were investigated and analyzed under various processing parameters (pulse energy, repetition rate, and welding speed).

Femtosecond fiber laser welding of PMMA
SPIE Proceedings, 2015Femtosecond-pulsed laser welding of transparent materials on a micrometer scale is a versatile tool for the fabrication and assembly of electronic, electromechanical, and especially biomedical micro-devices. In this paper, we report on microwelding of two transparent layers of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) with femtosecond laser pulses at 1030 nm in ...

Weld penetration and phenomena in 10 kW fiber laser welding
ICALEO 2007: 26th International Congress on Laser Materials Processing, Laser Microprocessing and Nanomanufacturing, 2007A high-power fiber laser can produce an ultra-high peak power density of MW/mm2 level corresponding to a focused electron beam, and is promising as one of the desirable heat sources for high-speed and deep-penetration welding. This research was undertaken with the objective of obtaining a fundamental knowledge of 10 kW high-power fiber laser welding on

Fiber laser welding and suppression of spatters
ICALEO 2018: 37th International Congress on Applications of Lasers & Electro-Optics, 2018Welding with fiber lasers causes some welding defects due to generation of many spatters. In sight of the production technology, suppression of those is necessary for improving production efficiency and assuring their quality. We tried to suppress the spatters by using beam mode controlled technology and succeed with the stainless steel and the pure ...
