Demonstration of Broad and Flat Optical Frequency Comb Generator by Employing Highly Non Linear Optical Fiber

JSAP-Optica Joint Symposia 2023 Abstracts, 2023
The optical frequency comb (OFC) is prospective technique that can hike up the communication carrying capability of wide range in optical fiber communication [1]. Due to its numerous applications, including ultra-short pulse generation for different wavelength [2] multi-wavelength ultra-fast photonic signal processing, high-accuracy optoelectronic ...

Non-linear optical phenomena in contact fiber laser-photocoagulation of myocardium

Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 1992
The rise time of epicardial temperatures on the left ventricular free wall during endocardial transcatbeter delivery of Nd:YAG laser energy, recorded by thermography has sparked interest in anomalous optical phenomena. Transmission measurements on whole blocks of myocardium showed a decrease in the attenuation coefficient at high power densities.

Impact of fiber non-linearities in transmission across geographical optical networks

Conference Proceedings LEOS'96 9th Annual Meeting IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society, 2002
The introduction of a transparent optical level in a very large area transport network requires transmission through optical paths thousands of kilometers long. The Kerr effect in such networks causes nonlinear crosstalk due to Four-Wave Mixing (EWM) among channels, that is a quite detrimental, limiting the achievable spectral efficiency of the WDM ...

New Gaussian-based approximation for modelling non-linear effects in optical fibers

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 1994
The use of Gaussian field approximations enables simple analytical models to be derived for non-linear fibers and doped-fiber lasers and amplifiers. A new Gaussian-based method is described that is as easy to use as the standard Gaussian approximations, yet provides an rms error in the confinement factor of only 1.1% for a wide range of matched ...

Analysis of high order dispersion and non linear effects in fiber optic transmission with Non Linear Schrodinger Equation model

2015 International Conference on Quality in Research (QiR), 2015
In a long-haul optical fiber transmission system which uses a high power input and a long distance transmission, disturbances can occur during the propagation process. These disturbances can be categorized into linear and non-linear effects which are affected by the intensity dependence of fiber optic refractive index n.

Non Linear Effects For Light Generation And Amplification In Optical Fibers.

SPIE Proceedings, 1990
We present a review of the main non-linear effects for light generation and amplification in optical fibers. Stimulated Raman Scattering and its applications to optical amplication, Four-Photon Mixing, Brillouin Scattering and Harmonic Generation are described. We emphasize the advantages and drawbacks of using optical fibers for the development of non-

Optical diversity transmission and maximumratio combine in multi-core fiber to mitigate fiber non-linear distortion

2012 17th Opto-Electronics and Communications Conference, 2012
This paper proposes optical diversity transmission through multi-core fiber and maximum ratio combined reception to mitigate fiber non-linear distortion which allows increased optical fiber launched power and thus enhanced optical signal to noise ratios.

Self-stabilizing additive-pulse mode-locking due to thermo-optical non-linearity in an optical fiber

Applied Physics B: Lasers and Optics, 1998
, 1671 (1991)] described a Nd:YLF APM laser which somehow automatically adjusted the relative resonator phase. We reproduce this behavior and analyse its origin. Thermal effects due to the light power guided in the fiber affect the effective fiber length, which in turn influences the phase and thus the power level; hence a closed servo loop results. We

Analysis and Reduction of Fiber Non-linearity in Optical Communication System

2019
In this paper, the effect of nonlinearity has been investigated with different techniques such as non-return-to-zero (NRZ), return-to-zero (RZ), duo-binary return-to-zero (DRZ), and modified duo-binary return-to-zero (MDRZ) modulations. We have explored the fiber nonlinearities by taking dispersion of single-mode optical fiber at 2.5 Gbps communication

Post-detection filter bandwidth optimization in long-haul non-linear optical fiber systems

Proceedings of the 2001 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and Optoelectronics Conference. (Cat. No.01TH8568), 2002
Electric filters are often employed in receivers for IM/DD multi-amplified optical fiber communication systems to minimize amplitude distortion caused by noise accumulation. However, if the regime of propagation is nonlinear, the filter bandwidth has to be optimized taking into account the additional distortion related to nonlinear effects.
