Study on simulation of fiber optic current sensor [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of 2011 International Symposium on Electrical Insulating Materials, 2011
Various applications of fiber optic current sensor are explored now. In this paper a new full-optical current sensor is designed. The fiber-optic current sensor is based on the Faraday rotation effect, and moreover, in this paper the mechanism of Faraday rotation effect of cylinder fiber model is explained. In the present research experimental platform

Brillouin fiber optic current sensor

Optical Review, 1996
A novel reciprocal Brillouin fiber optic current sensor has been developed and tested. The sensor shows a sensitivity of 126 Hz/A that is very close to the maximum sensitivity obtained by using fibers without linear birefringence. The limitations due to the Kerr effect and optical feedbacks in the system are also investigated.

Specialty Optical Fibers for Fiber Optical Current Sensors

Asia Pacific Optical Sensors Conference, 2016
We design and manufacture specialty fibers for fiber optical current sensor (FOCS) head: PANDA, elliptical core fiber, and spun highly birefringent fiber. The sensor head achieves good linearity in temperature range -40oC -70oC without compensation.

A Practical Fiber Optic Current Sensor

Journal of Optics, 1990
The results of a practical (laboratory) model fiber optic current sensor based on the principle of Faraday rotation are presented in this paper. Rotation of the plane of polarisation of a He-Ne laser light passing through a single mode fiber wound around a current carrying conductor is caused by the circular birefringence due to a strong magnetic field
