Self-Compensative Fiber Optic Current Sensor
Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2021The measurement accuracy of fiber optic current sensors (FOCS) is closely related to the stability of Verdet constant and the polarization characteristic of the sensing coils, which are easily influenced by environmental disturbance. In this article, a self-compensative fiber optic current sensor (SFOCS) with two sensing heads made of single mode ...

Brillouin fiber optic current sensor
Optical Review, 1996A novel reciprocal Brillouin fiber optic current sensor has been developed and tested. The sensor shows a sensitivity of 126 Hz/A that is very close to the maximum sensitivity obtained by using fibers without linear birefringence. The limitations due to the Kerr effect and optical feedbacks in the system are also investigated.

Specialty Optical Fibers for Fiber Optical Current Sensors
Asia Pacific Optical Sensors Conference, 2016We design and manufacture specialty fibers for fiber optical current sensor (FOCS) head: PANDA, elliptical core fiber, and spun highly birefringent fiber. The sensor head achieves good linearity in temperature range -40oC -70oC without compensation.

Vibration-insensitive fiber-optic current sensor
Optics Letters, 1993The measurement of the electric current with an optical fiber sensor can be made insensitive to external vibrations that act on the leading fiber by using a circuit involving a mirrored Faraday rotator and a highly twisted low-birefringence fiber. A description of the optical configuration as well as our first experimental results are presented.

Portable fiber optic current sensor
SPIE Proceedings, 1991We present a ruggedized portable fiber-optic Faraday-rotation current sensor, that exhibits good and stable performance characteristics. The sensor has been tested and calibrated against a commercial induction-coil type device. The resultant scale-factor is in a very good agreement with the theoretical one, calculated following extensive fiber ...

Development of Fiber Optic Current Sensor
Advanced Materials Research, 2014Current measuring high-precision methods and devices are one of the most important modern engineering development lines in optimal energy consumption sphere. However, there are a few small-sized instruments which allow conducting precision measurements without breaking the circuit. This paper presents information about conducted Faraday Effect research

A Practical Fiber Optic Current Sensor
Journal of Optics, 1990The results of a practical (laboratory) model fiber optic current sensor based on the principle of Faraday rotation are presented in this paper. Rotation of the plane of polarisation of a He-Ne laser light passing through a single mode fiber wound around a current carrying conductor is caused by the circular birefringence due to a strong magnetic field

Novel Chirped Fiber Optic Current Sensor
Frontiers in Optics 2012/Laser Science XXVIII, 2012We present a rugged magnetostriction-based optical current sensor with wide dynamic range. It consists of a fiber Bragg grating embedded in a tapered polymer block converting magnetostrictive strain into frequency chirp proportional to magnetic field.
