High-Power Femtosecond Pulse Generation From an All-Fiber Er-Doped Chirped Pulse Amplification System

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
We demonstrate a compact all-fiber Er-doped chirped pulse amplification (CPA) system that can produce ∼344 fs pulses with an average power of up to 1.02 W and a repetition rate of 40.6 MHz at 1.56 μm (corresponding to an energy of 25.1 nJ).

Broadband phase coherence between an ultrafast laser and an OPO using lock-to-zero CEO stabilization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The carrier-envelope-offset frequencies of the pump, signal, idler and related second-harmonic and sum-frequency mixing pulses have been locked to 0 Hz in a 20-fs-Ti: sapphire-pumped optical parametric oscillator, satisfying a critical prerequisite for ...

A 20 W, Less-Than-1-kHz Linewidth Linearly Polarized All-Fiber Laser

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
We report a continuous-wave high-output power and narrow-linewidth all-fiber laser at 1550 nm with the master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) configuration. An all-fiber distributed feedback seed laser was boosted by three cascaded fiber amplifiers. In

Supercontinuum Generation in an Ytterbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier With Cascaded Double-Clad Passive Fiber Tapers

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2017
Supercontinuum (SC) generation directly from an Ytterbium-doped fiber amplifier (YDFA) has many advantages such as high output power, low splicing loss, and high optical to optical conversion efficiency.

Sub two-cycle soliton-effect pulse compression at 800 nm in Photonic Crystal Fibers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The possibility of soliton self-compression of ultrashort laser pulses down to the few-cycle regime in photonic crystal fibers is numerically investigated.

Beam Transmission Properties in High Power Ytterbium-Doped Tandem-Pumping Fiber Amplifier

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
This paper presented beam evolution in entire fiber laser from a more qualitative perspective. Specifically, the beam transmission properties under the condition of the disturbances of the refraction index, during the full length of active fiber in ...

A Comparison of Laser and Microwave Approaches to CW Beamed Energy Launch [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
One approach to beamed energy propulsion uses a solid heat exchanger to absorb energy from a distant source and transfer it to a working fluid. Systems of this type can be designed using either microwave or laser sources.

Yb-Doped Aluminophosphosilicate Triple-Clad Laser Fiber With High Efficiency and Excellent Laser Stability

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
We fully demonstrated an ytterbium (Yb) doped triple-clad laser fiber with intense pump absorption, high efficiency, and laser stability. P5+/Al3+ molar ratio in the central region of fiber core was specially designed to be ∼1.

Suppression of stimulated Brillouin scattering in optical fibers using a linearly chirped diode laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The output of high power fiber amplifiers is typically limited by stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS). An analysis of SBS with a chirped pump laser indicates that a chirp of 2.5 × 10^(15) Hz/s could raise, by an order of magnitude, the SBS threshold ...
