We describe a low-cost fiber optic sensor for measuring photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) in turbulent flow. Existing technology was combined in a novel way for probe development addressing the need for a small but durable instrument for use in flowing water. Optical components including fiber optics and a wide-spectrum light detector were used

A fiber-optic temperature sensor
Automation and Remote Control, 2013In this paper we demonstrate the feasibility of designing a fiber-optic temperature sensor based on the principles of low-coherent tandem interferometry; the sensitive element represents a plane-parallel plate produced from fused silica of thickness 500 µm (the corresponding measurement range is between 40 and 90°C).

Fiber Optical Intensity Sensors
IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 1983Fiber optical intensity sensors are made of optical fibers connected to a miniaturized optical sensor which is based on either a mechanical light valve, a light scattering process, a photoemission or photoabsorption process, or the transmission property of the optical fiber itself.
