Production and processing of organically grown fiber nettle (Urtica dioica L.) and its potential use in the natural textiles industry: A review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
In Europe, the perennial stinging nettle was cultivated during the 19th century until the Second World War and has a long history as a fiber plant.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

QTL Mapping for Fiber Quality Based on Introgression Lines Population from G. hirsutum × G. tomentosum

open access: yesAgriculture, 2023
As one of the most widely cultivated cotton species in China, upland cotton has moderate fiber quality and wide applicability, but its genetic basis is relatively narrow.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Response of Two Cotton Genotypes to Organic and Inorganic Fertilizers in Two Locations in Sulaymaniyah Province [PDF]

open access: yesمجلة الأنبار للعلوم الزراعية
Cotton plants have a broad range of uses in industry. However, various factors affect their quality leading to the employment of different approaches to achieve optimal production of the crop. In this study, the BM 455 and Golda genotypes were cultivated

Improved Upland Cotton Germplasm for Multiple Fiber Traits Mediated by Transferring and Pyramiding Novel Alleles From Ethyl Methanesulfonate-Generated Mutant Lines Into Elite Genotypes

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS) mutagenesis offers important advantages for improving crops, such as cotton, with limited diversity in elite gene pools. EMS-induced point mutations are less frequently associated with deleterious traits than alleles from ...

Genetical genomics dissection of cotton fiber quality [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Cotton fiber is a commodity of key economic importance in both developed and developing countries. The two cultivated species, Gossypium hirsutum and G. barbadense , are tetraploid (2n=1x= 52 . 2.3 Gb).

Spatiotemporal self-similar fiber laser

open access: yes, 2019
In this Letter, we demonstrate, to the best of our knowledge, the first spatiotemporally mode-locked fiber laser with self-similar pulse evolution. The multimode fiber oscillator generates parabolic amplifier similaritons at 1030 nm with 90 mW average ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
