Introgression Leads to Genomic Divergence and Responsible for Important Traits in Upland Cotton

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2020
Understanding the genetic diversity and population structure of germplasms is essential when selecting parents for crop breeding. The genomic changes that occurred during the domestication and improvement of Upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) remains ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Selective Determination of 4,4′-Oxydianiline (4,4′-ODA) in Plastic Packaging Using Molecularly Imprinted Polymer Sensor Integrated with Pyrolyzed Copper/Carbon Composite

open access: yesChemosensors
This study focuses on the synthesis, fabrication, and characterization of a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) sensor tailored for the selective determination of 4,4′-oxydianiline (4,4′-ODA) in plastic products. Notably, by integrating the sensor matrix

Coherence Cloning Using Semiconductor Laser Optical Phase-Lock Loops [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We demonstrate the concept of coherence cloning where the coherence properties of a high-quality spectrally stabilized fiber laser are transferred to a commercially available high-power DFB semiconductor laser (SCL) using an optical phase-lock loop.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Genome-wide identification of the pectate lyase (PEL) gene family members in Malvaceae, and their contribution to cotton fiber quality

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture
Pectin is a major constituent of the plant cell wall. Pectate lyase (PEL, EC 4.2.2.2) uses anti-β-elimination chemistry to cleave the α-1,4 glycosidic linkage in the homogalacturonan region of pectin.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Assessment of Segal method for identifying crystallinity evolution in developing cotton fibers

open access: yesAgricultural & Environmental Letters
The crystallinity index (CI) is an important parameter in evaluating cotton fiber quality. Due to its ease and speed in measuring CIs from X‐ray diffraction (XRD) patterns, the Segal method is popularly used.
