14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

Mechanical quality factor of a sapphire fiber at cryogenic temperatures [PDF]
A mechanical quality factor of $1.1 \times 10^{7}$ was obtained for the 199 Hz bending vibrational mode in a monocrystalline sapphire fiber at 6 K. Consequently, we confirm that pendulum thermal noise of cryogenic mirrors used for gravitational wave ...

Visual Recovery Reflects Cortical MeCP2 Sensitivity in Rett Syndrome
ABSTRACT Objective Rett syndrome (RTT) is a devastating neurodevelopmental disorder with developmental regression affecting motor, sensory, and cognitive functions. Sensory disruptions contribute to the complex behavioral and cognitive difficulties and represent an important target for therapeutic interventions.

Naturally Compatible: Starch Acetate/Cellulosic Fiber Composites. I. Processing and Properties [PDF]
Composite compounds based on hemp and flax fibers in triethyl citrate plasticized starch acetate were prepared by melt processing. For better properties and processability, compounds with plasticizer contents in the range 20-35 wt% were screened ...

ABSTRACT Objective Peripheral neuropathies contribute to patient disability but may be diagnosed late or missed altogether due to late referral, limitation of current diagnostic methods and lack of specialized testing facilities. To address this clinical gap, we developed NeuropathAI, an interpretable deep learning–based multiclass classification ...

A microstructured fiber source of photon pairs at widely separated wavelengths
We demonstrate a source of photon pairs with widely separated wavelengths, 810 nm and 1548 nm, generated through spontaneous four-wave mixing in a microstructured fiber.

3D photonic crystals for direct applications in light emitting devices [PDF]
In this paper, we present IP-Dip polymer-based Photonic Crystals (PhCs), which are more and more attractive for photonic devices. These structures offer simple and cheap solutions, how to improve optical properties of these devices. In our experiment, we

ABSTRACT Background Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a rare disorder characterized by fluctuating muscle weakness with potential life‐threatening crises. Timely interventions may be delayed by limited access to care and fragmented documentation. Our objective was to develop predictive algorithms for MG deterioration using multimodal telemedicine data ...
