Fibre Bragg gratings for temporal spectral astronomy
SPIE Proceedings, 2010Temporal spectral astronomy or time resolved astronomy is the study of astrophysical phenomena that show spectral variability on very short timescales. These timescales are often too short to be resolved by current astronomical equipment. The lack of detailed observations in this area keeps important theoretical descriptions of astronomical events ...

Fibre Bragg grating sensor for respiratory monitoring
ACOFT/AOS 2006 - Australian Conference on Optical Fibre Technology/Australian Optical Society, 2006A temperature sensor based on fibre Bragg gratings has been used to monitor human respiration. We discuss the thermodynamic properties of the sensor and present the general performance characteristics of the system.

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
The hydrostatic pressure sensitivity of polymer optical fibre Bragg grating of different diameters is investigated. For this purpose Bragg gratings are inscribed in single-mode polymer fibre and also in etched single-mode polymer fibre. The inherent pressure sensitivity of the grating are experimentally investigated up-to 1MPa by monitoring the change ...

Fibre Bragg Gratings Inscribed in Homemade Microstructured Fibres
Chinese Physics Letters, 2007Fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs) are inscribed in homemade microstructured fibres by the standard phase mask method. Enhanced couplings between the forward fundamental mode and backward cladding modes are obtained. The mode coupling and spectral characteristics are investigated experimentally.

Moir Fibre Bragg Grating Written on Strained Fibres
Chinese Physics Letters, 2004Moire fibre Bragg gratings are made in a single mode fibre and a polarization-maintaining fibre respectively, using an excimer KrF laser and a phase mask. Two gratings are written at the same location of the optical fibre. The wavelength spacing can be finely tuned from 0 to 1.86 nm by straining the optical fibre during UV illumination.

In-fibre Bragg grating sensors
Measurement Science and Technology, 1997In-fibre Bragg grating (FBG) sensors are one of the most exciting developments in the field of optical fibre sensors in recent years. Compared with conventional fibre-optic sensors, FBG sensors have a number of distinguishing advantages. Significant progress has been made in applications to strain and temperature measurements.

Polymer fibre Bragg gratings tunable laser
2006 Optical Fiber Communication Conference and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference, 2006Tunable laser using a polymer fibre Bragg grating with simple axial tension as tuning method is constructed. Continuous tunable wavelength over 35 nm with the peak power around -5 dBm and signal to noise ratio greater than 45 dB has been achieved.

Fibre Bragg Grating Components (WG4)
1999The COST 246 Working group WG4 “Bragg grating components” investigated the reliability of a new kind of all-fibre devices based in the coupling of different fibre modes by UV laser fabricated phrase gratings. The most prominent phase grating that couples the forward propagating to the backward propagating fundamental mode is called the fibre Bragg ...
