Bamboo Medical Application: A State‐of‐the‐Art Review

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review presents a structured classification of bamboo's current use in healthcare. It organizes applications into medical textiles and medical devices, with further divisions based on function and level of invasiveness. It also examines material utilization based on bamboo's structural role, highlighting how it supports both protective and ...

Flexible Pressure Sensor With Co‐Optimized Sensitivity and Linearity Based on Gradient Toroidal Microstructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A flexible piezoresistive pressure sensor with gradient toroidal CNT/PDMS microstructures is reported. The hierarchical geometry enables sequential electrode contact, achieving a sensitivity of 256.20 kPa−1 and linear response (R2 = 0.99) over 0–1000 kPa.

Experimental analysis of aluminium/carbon epoxy hybrid laminates under flexural load

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2019
Industry needs new materials that present very high structural characteristic, such as high strength, low weight and high damage tolerance. To obtain these characteristics a new class of materials has been introduced: Fibre Metal Laminate (FML); they ...

Hygro-thermo-mechanical modelling of multilayered plates: Hybrid composite laminates, fibre metal laminates and sandwich plates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A new layerwise mixed model is developed for the coupled hygro-thermo-mechanical static analysis of multilayered plates, addressing hybrid composite laminates, fibre metal laminates and sandwich plates under hygro-thermo-mechanical loadings.

Using (VA)RTM with a Rigid Mould to Produce Fibre Metal Laminates with Proven Impact Strength

open access: yesJournal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing, 2018
The production of fibre metal laminates (FMLs) is a time consuming and expensive procedure. This paper shows the application of the vacuum assisted resin transfer moulding ((VA)RTM) technique using an injection unit and a rigid mould for the production ...

Alternative Manufacturing Route of Fibre Metal Laminates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Fibre metal laminates (FML) are manufactured by stacking metal sheets and fibre reinforced prepreg in an alternating fashion, and curing it in an autoclave.

Fracture micromechanisms of fibre-metal laminates: In-situ SEM observations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The monotonic fracture micromechanisms of an aramid-aluminum laminate were studied using very small single edge bend specimens, SE(B) tested in a small-instrumented testing machine inside a scanning electron microscope.

Coaxial Melt Electrowriting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Coaxial melt electrowriting is established to produce dual‐property microfibers with diameters spanning 1.6–29.2 µm. Stable coaxial laminar flow is preserved under electrohydrodynamic thinning, enabling controlled binary and gradient material switching within individual continuous fibers.
